Drunken Stampers: Pretty Little Liars

Happy Saturday, crafty friends! It’s my team’s turn to post this week at the Drunken Stampers challenge blog, and this week, we’ve got secrets to share with you…our theme is to create a card with a secret.

Maybe you’ve never heard of “Pretty Little Liars“…it’s a TV show as well as a book series. Its target audience is teenage girls, but I have to say, the show is very good…I’ve gotten hooked on it, I’ve recommended it to several of my friends (and my husband), and we all love it!

Recently, the show aired its annual Halloween special…creepy and so fun! The basic plot of the show revolves around four friends (Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna) whose mutual friend, Allison, disappeared and was later found dead. Soon after Allison’s funeral, the girls start receiving creepy texts from someone named “A”, who seems to know all their deepest, darkest secrets.

Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

The secret on my card is how I created the 3-D effect. The recipe includes acetate, a colored digital image, and some foam tape.

I printed the digital image onto the acetate (we have a laser printer, but I am sure ink-jet compatible transparencies would work as well), and another print on card stock to color.

Once the image was colored, I lined it up and adhered it on the underside of the transparency. Then, I used foam tape to give the acetate some dimension, layering it over some patterned paper to create a scene.

The frame was cut with a Spellbinders die from black card stock, and then I hand-trimmed it to the width I wanted. Then, I inked it with metallic pigment ink. It’s ok that it rubbed off in certain places…it kind of creates a worn metal look!

Because my patterned paper didn’t quite match up to the opening, I added some punched grass to the bottom of the paper.

To play along with us, all you need to do is link your project on the Drunken Stampers blog using the Linky Tool, and add your blog link, gallery link, etc. (for more info on how to participate, please click How do I participate? tab)

Please add the link directly to your project (any generic blog links will be deleted from the list) and leave us a comment! (if Linky Tools isn’t working or just misbehavin’, just leave a comment with the link to your card) You have until  Friday, November 2 at 11:59 PST to post your link for this challenge!

You can check out what the other members of Team Mojito (and maybe some members of Team Flirtini) have created for this challenge by visiting the Drunken Stampers blog!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I’m going to the All-American Rejects concert tonight with my friend, Sparkle!
I’ll be back tomorrow with a new Christmas Card Challenge as well as my card for Your Next Stamp‘s “Hop for Hope”! See you then, and thanks so much for stopping by!
