Moxie Fab World: Sweater Weather (Tuesday Trigger)

Even if you can’t feel a chill in the air just yet, this week’s Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World will have you thinking of cooler weather:

The inspirational elements I took from this photo for my card are the colors, the yarn and the subtle pattern in the sweater…

I embossed some kraft cardstock for my base and thought this was the perfect card to use my little yarn/knitting stamp that I’ve been holding on to; it’s from Lockhart Stamps. I colored the balls of yarn to match the trigger colors. I created the sentiment using the Harold’s ABC’s set by Lawn Fawn Stamps.
Thanks for visiting!
There’s still time to play along with this Moxie Fab challenge…you have until Sunday, October 31 to post your project!

Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge #16

This is my first time participating in a Sparkle Creations challenge, because I didn’t have any of the stamps until now!

This week’s challenge is inspired by some pretty red and white snowflake-y bedding:

So I carried that theme over to my card, which features Sparkle Creations’ Sledding Chloe!

Supplies: Cardstock (Stampin’ Up!), Paper (October Afternoon – Very Merry), Snowflake crystals (Imaginisce), Sentiment stamp (Studio G), Ink (Stampin’ Up! & AMuse), Other (Stickles)
I colored her in with colored pencils, permanent markers, and gel pens. Hopefully, if I’m good, Santa will bring me some Copics so I can up my coloring skills!
Thanks for stopping by to look at my card!
There’s still time to participate in this Sparkle Creations challenge…the deadline is Sunday, October 31 at 9PM Pacific Time.  In order to qualify for a prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations image on your creation.

CPS #190

For this week’s Card Positioning Systems (CPS) sketch challenge, I made a Thanksgiving card! It’s very easy to work with this sketch — I added my sentiment in the open area in the middle, and used the block at the lower right for my main image.

Here’s the sketch:

and here’s my card!

Supplies: Paper (Basic Grey’s Pyrus, Pink Paislee’s Cupid & Cosmo Cricket’s Nutmeg), Stamps (Lawn Fawn’s Harvest Season), Ribbon & Ink (Stampin’ Up!), Markers (Copic)
Thanks for visiting!
There’s still time to play along with CPS sketch #190…this week’s drawing is sponsored by Taylored Expressions!

Get Sketchy #61

It took me a while to figure out what design I’d use for this week’s Get Sketchy challenge, but luckily, I had some paper that worked out great!

Here’s the sketch:

and here’s my card! I used papers from Cosmo Cricket’s Pixielicious collection and a stamp from Imaginisce.

The flowers are from my stash, and the rub-on sentiment I used is by Pebbles. I colored the fox with colored pencils and markers.
Thanks for taking time to look at my card!

Unscripted Sketches #78

It’s Saturday, and that means it’s time for another Unscripted Sketch! Thanks to all who participated in last weekend’s Unscripted Sketches Breast Cancer Awareness Month Blog Hop, and thanks to all who left comments here and on the other designers’ blogs! You all helped to make it fun!

Here’s our sketch for this week:

I used some beautiful fall papers and stamps from Basic Grey’s Pyrus collection for my card. I also rotated the sketch:
Since I make way more cards than scrapbook pages these days, I’m really into mini paper pads! I find they help with getting inspired, and since the paper’s already coordinated, it helps to pick out matching designs.

Thanks for visiting! Don’t forget to visit the rest of the Unscripted Design Team: Alanna, Angy, April, Arielle, Becky, CherylAnn, Debbie, Gardenia, Jenny, Lelia, Linda, Marcy, Sarah Kaye and Stephanie!

I can’t wait to see what you’ll create with this week’s Unscripted Sketch!

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: Memento Mori

For this week’s Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, I used the shape of the tombstone in the trigger photo to inspire me when I made my card:

I turned that shape into a window on my card, and the gravestone image reminded me of ornate designs that are sometimes carved into tombstones and are often found in the woodwork inside old churches.
The knight and princess stamp is one of the first that I bought when I started stamping; it’s from Elzybells Art Stamps. The knight reminds me of my husband, who actually has his own suit of armor! I wrote about it in this earlier post. Scott is usually the first person to see my cards, and is the inspiration for many of them!
I used paper from Webster’s Pages for the outside of the card, and embossed a strip of cardstock for the top. I glued a fleur-de-lis brad top to a button to make the gate fold’s closure.
Here is a picture of the inside (you can click on the picture to make it bigger):

SCIC #25

There’s more spooky Halloween inspiration over at Stampin’ Celebration this week!:

Here’s my take! I was inspired by the color scheme, and also the bats…
I love these cute bat stamps from Lawn Fawn! I also used Lawn Fawn’s Harold’s ABC’s set to spell and stamp my sentiment.

I used SU cardstock and paper from Cosmo Cricket and Three Bugs in a Rug for my card.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re inspired to play along with Stampin’ Celebration this week! Happy Haunting (and stamping)!

Color Throwdown #115

but I managed to come up with a cute card!

I’ve had this candy stamp from Imaginisce for a while, but never used it. I thought the colors would work well with it…it’s kind of Halloweeny but it doesn’t have to be. The patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket’s Pixielicious. The rest is SU cardstock in the challenge colors. The sentiment stamp is by Savvy Stamps. I embossed the card with a Sizzix folder and made the border strip with a Martha Stewart punch.
Thanks for looking at my card! There’s lots more to see over at the Color Throwdown! Check it out!

Caardvarks: Inside and Out!

The latest Caardvarks challenge is to create a new stamped card that is decorated inside and out! The prizes for this challenge are being sponsored by Penny Black…the top 3 cards will get some totally cute stamps! For the challenge rules and to see pictures of the stamps up for grabs, visit the Caardvarks blog!

Here are the inside and outside views of the card that I made for this challenge! (You can click on each picture to get a closer look!)

Supplies: Stamps: Imaginisce (images) and Elzybells (sentiment), Ink (Stampin’ Up Soft Suede), Cardstock: Stampin’ Up!, Paper: Jillibean Soup, Other: Martha Stewart Border Punch, white opaque dimensional pen, ribbon.
I love these little gingerbread men! Last year, I hosted a cookie & recipe swap and my husband, Scott, signed up under a fake name so he could participate too! He made some delicious gingerbread cookies from scratch and I made frosted sugar cookies!
I definitely enjoy baking more than cooking, maybe that’s because I have such a dominant sweet tooth! For Scott’s birthday each year, I make his favorite, German Chocolate Cake, from scratch with a recipe I borrow from Betty Crocker. Since it’s his favorite, I love putting in the extra effort to make sure he gets something special and delicious!
Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my card!
The Caardvarks design team has some beautiful examples to show you for this challenge! There’s still time to enter, too! The contest runs until November 3.

CPS #189

I really enjoyed working with this week’s Card Positioning Systems (CPS) sketch! This week’s challenge is sponsored by Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps.

I changed the dimensions of the sketch to the size of a standard A2 card. I used paper from Cosmo Cricket’s Pixielicious collection and some Bo Bunny Double Dot for my card.
The dog stamp is by Imaginisce, and was stamped in SU Chocolate Chip ink. The heart stamp is by Lawn Fawn. I drew my own thought bubble. The sentiment is by Pebbles.

Thanks so much for stopping by to look at my card!
You can check out the other entries and the design team’s examples over at the CPS blog!
