Paper Smooches SPARKS: Anything Goes!

Hi, crafty friends! Today, I’m sharing the card I made for this week’s “anything goes” challenge at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog.

I often come up with some of my silliest and most creative ideas late at night. Tonight I was coloring some images and remembered there was still time to link up for this challenge, and suddenly, it hit me…I needed to make a “hipster walrus” card!

So, I combined images from the “Chilly Chums” and “Warm Hearts” sets, with the mustache from the “Hot Concoctions” set thrown in for good measure.

And the result is the hippest walrus around, complete with knit beanie cap, shades (I just colored his eyes in with a black marker and drew a line between them to create the glasses), bow tie, gourmet coffee and of course, a mustache:

Christmas Card Challenges #6 – Rip, Sand, Tear

Welcome back, crafty friends! Today brings a new Christmas Card Challenge! This week, we’re challenging you to distress something on your card (rip, sand or tear).

I distressed the edges of my main embossed image. I originally wanted to tear the red patterned paper, but it was a bit too much, so I stuck with a simple touch of the technique instead.

Supplies: watermark ink (VersaMark), gold and white opaque embossing powder (JudiKins), seam binding ribbon (Stampin’ UP!), houndstooth paper (SEI), gold glitter brads (American Crafts), image and sentiment stamps (Gourmet Rubber Stamps), patterned paper (Echo Park – Very Merry Christmas).
All of our challenges are optional…the only “real” rule is that you must create a new Christmas, Holiday or Hannukah card, then link it up on our blog so we can stop by and say hi!

It’s not necessary that you use a Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp on your card, but we sure love it when you do!

Don’t forget to visit the rest of the CCC team to take a peek at the fun and festive cards they’ve created this week: AlannaCorinneJennifer, JovitaKarenKatieLeesaLorie,MargoMichelePatStephanie…and our guest designer Rachel!

CCC Week 5 – Paint

Happy Sunday, crafty friends! It’s time for a new Christmas Card Challenge, and this week, we’re passionate about paint!
Week #5
I tried something different for my card this week. I used some acrylic paint as ink when stamping my images.
I thought the images stamped clearer when I stamped on thick card stock instead of solid designer paper. I spread a layer of ink on some scrap card stock, then stamped the images. I made sure to quickly wash off the stamps with some mild soap and water so the paint wouldn’t dry on them.
I heat embossed the sentiment, and once the snowflakes were dry, I cut them out and added some Liquid Pearls to accent them.
Other supplies: designer paper (Carta Bella), twine (Trendy Twine), snowflake stamps (Martha Stewart Crafts), embossing folder (Cuttlebug), decorative frame element (SEI), sentiment stamp (Your Next Stamp).

YNS Fun Friday! – Thanks a Latte!

Happy Friday, crafty pals! It’s my turn to post again at Your Next Stamp for Fun Friday, and today, I’m sharing a cute gift card holder that features one of my all-time favorite YNS images, “Ellie Loves Lattes,” as well as a couple of the new YNS Whatnots dies.
Even though Christmas has come and gone, this would still be a great project for anytime you are in need of a gift card holder for a birthday, special occasion, or a thank you gift!
I started with a free pdf template for my project, but I made some changes. I didn’t include the top tag shape or the fastener portions. I used the size of the template to make a pocket to adhere to the front of a small note card, because that leaves room to write a special note to the recipient on the inside.
I also punched a half circle on the pocket to make it easier to get to the gift card.
To make sure the gift card doesn’t fall out, I cut a long piece of twine and wrapped it around the card, then punched a small hole at the bottom of the pocket. Once the gift card is in the pocket, the twine is tied through the punched hole, and voila! The gift card stays in place!
Supplies: Your Next Stamp (“Ellie Loves Lattes” stamp set, Whatnots Seasons Set One Dies), papers (Bo Bunny Double Dot, Crate Paper, Copic markers, watermark ink, opaque white embossing powder, twine (Trendy Twine), Stickles, Liquid Pearls, free PDF template (Carolyn’s Stamp Store).

Thanks bunches for stopping by! I hope you have a totally fun Friday and a wonderful weekend!

To see what the other members of the Your Next Stamp team have created to inspire you, just stop by the YNS blog! I’ll be back tomorrow with a year in review wrap-up post, and again on Sunday with a new Christmas Card Challenge!

Happy Christmas Eve, crafty friends! I’m popping in today to share a card I whipped up for the latest “Picture Perfect” challenge at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog.

Here’s the inspiration photo:

and here’s my card! I was inspired by the winter-y colors in the photo, and combined stamps from Paper Smooches’ “Chilly Chums” and “Warm Hearts” sets.

Christmas Card Challenges Week 4- Jingle Bells

Happy Sunday! It’s the day before Christmas Eve, and it’s time for a new Christmas Card Challenge!
This week, we’re doing the “Jingle Bell Rock” for our inspiration:
I have to tell you, it was such a relief when I mailed our last batch of Christmas cards this week. As soon as I put them in the mailbox, it felt like a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders! I am very good at making cards, but I am horrible at sending them…I’m hoping you can relate!
My card for this week features some festive paper by October Afternoon, paired with the ever-lovely “Holiday Emily” from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps!

I die-cut the snowflake accent and added a button. I’m sure you’ll notice more felty accents on my cards this year…I’ve grown to love the stuff!

Drunken Stampers 111 – Food

Happy Saturday, crafty friends! It’s time for my team to post again at Drunken Stampers, and this week, we’re inspired by food! With the holidays in full swing, who can resist a few sweet treats?
My card features The Greeting Farm’s “Anya Treats,” and the layout is inspired by this week’s Deconstructed Sketch (#82):
Other supplies: paper (Basic Grey Paper Cottage), border die (Your Next Stamp – Whatnots Die Set), twine (Trendy Twine), Copic markers, sentiment stamp (Impress Rubber Stamps), watermark ink, opaque white embossing powder, Copic markers.

I finally got into the holiday spirit this week…it has been pretty hard to get there this year. Everything is starting to come together, though. Instead of cooking a large meal for just the two of us, my husband and I are going out to dinner for Christmas Eve.

Our holiday plans were up in the air for a while, since Scott has been transitioning to civilian life and has been looking for a job outside of the Army. Fortunately, he was offered a job this week, so that means we will be relocating soon…hopefully this will be our last big move for quite some time!

To play along with us, all you need to do is link your project on the Drunken Stampers blog using the Linky Tool, and add your blog link, gallery link, etc.

Please add the link directly to your project (any generic blog links will be deleted from the list) and leave us a comment! (if Linky Tools isn’t working or just misbehavin’, just leave a comment with the link to your card) You have until  Friday, December 28 at 11:59 PST to post your link for this challenge!

You can check out what the other members of Team Mojito (and maybe some members of Team Flirtini) have created for this challenge by visiting the Drunken Stampers blog!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow with a new Christmas Card Challenge…see you then!
