Lawnscaping Challenge #107

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge (#107)! This time, we’re crazy for critters, and we’re inspiring you to use them in your challenge entry!

I LOVE Lawn Fawn‘s many sets of critter stamps, and since I’ve gone back to school after so many years away, I made a few bookmarks to share with you! (And to make studying more fun for me!)

I made two corner bookmarks with papers from Lawn Fawn’s Beachside petite paper pad. You can also make these by cutting a corner off of an envelope, then covering that corner with your paper. I did mine a little differently and folded a square of patterned paper so that it left a longer side with space for me to stamp a sentiment.

The critters on the corner bookmarks are from Critters at the Dog Park and Critters Ever After. My third bookmark is actually the first one I made. It’s one of those “out there” ideas that stuck in my head until I actually made something with it!

The otter is from Year Five. The book is the same one from the Science of Love set that I used on the frog bookmark above, but I masked the face and bookmark so I could have it pointing the right way. (It’s flipped upside down.) The coffee cup is from Winter Fox, and I used the doughnut/bagel from Love You A Latte to make a pool float for the cup.

Here’s a look at all three bookmarks:

Lawnscaping Challenge #106

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge (#106)! This time, we’re inviting you to try a new technique on your entry! I was stumped for quite a while, but then I was inspired by this post at Jennifer McGuire’s blog, where she showed her technique for ink layering with two different types of ink and stencils.

For my card, I used one stencil. I sponged white ink on the stencil and heat set it so it wouldn’t smear. Then, I shifted the stencil a bit and sponged a few colors of neon yellow and orange ink on top.

I cut the stenciled layer down to use it as an accent on my card. Then, I stamped the toast and toaster from Lawn Fawn’s Love ‘n Breakfast stamp set and a sentiment from Love You S’more.

Stenciled Backgrounds with Make It Crafty!

Hi, everybody! I’m stopping in today to share some cards that I made for the Background Technique challenge at Make It Crafty! Our challenge runs throughout the month, and you can find all of the details at the Make It Crafty Inspiration blog!

With so many ways to create a custom background, it can be hard to decide which to use for your project! For today’s cards, I used stencils. My technique is pretty simple; I sponge ink through a stencil onto card stock. I often make my own stencils by cutting a design into a transparency sheet with my electronic die cut machine.

My first card features Felicity. She’s available at the Make It Crafty store as a digi or a rubber stamp.

My second card features Holly Rose, also available as a digi stamp or as a rubber stamp:

MiC CAS Team: Background Technique Challenge

Hi, everybody! Did you see the announcement about Make It Crafty’s new CAS (Clean and Simple) team? I’m super excited to be part of this team of talented ladies, and we’re going to have tons of inspiration for you!

We’re kicking this term off with our first monthly challenge! (You may have seen a smaller version of my card on the post with the team announcement.)

The theme of our challenge is to create your own background on your entry. For my card, I chose MiC’s fabulous “Felicity” digi stamp. I made the neon part of the background by applying ink over a stencil that I made with my die cut machine.

100_5620wm

I used a strip of striped paper to break up the bright background pattern. My only other additions to the card front were the sentiment and the main image!

Want even more inspiration with Make It Crafty stamps? Then, you’re in luck! The other members of the MiC CAS Team have some gorgeous cards to share with you:

Lawnscaping FIT April Blog Hop!

It’s the last Friday of the month, so that means it’s time for the Lawnscaping Challenge Facebook Inspiration Team’s (FIT) Monthly Blog Hop! You’ve probably arrived from Lenny’s blog, but in case you’re starting here, you’ll find the full hop list at the bottom of my post!

This month’s hop is once again being sponsored by The Ink Road! Be sure to visit The Ink Road and Lara’s blog! We’ll pick a winner from all of the comments left on our hop to receive a gift certificate to The Ink Road!

PINK is our inspiration color for this month’s hop, so I made a card with Lawn Fawn’s “Best Pun Ever” stamp set and the “Scripty Hello” Lawn Cuts die. The heart-shaped steam is from the “Whale You Be Mine” clear stamp set.

100_5617

I cut strips of striped paper from the Let’s Polka petite paper packs, lined them up to make a chevron pattern, then adhered them to a thin sheet of card stock before adhering the panel to the front of the card. The sentiment is die cut from a thin sheet of cork.

Lawnscaping Challenge #104

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge (#104), and this one is a little different than the themed or technique Lawnscaping challenges that you may be used to. We’re inspiring you with a sketch this time, and here’s my take:

100_5594wm

I love Lawn Fawn’s new Beachside petite paper pack, and thought it would be perfect for this quirky card idea I had for the challenge. Here’s a look at the sketch. (You can use different shapes in place of the circle and the star.)

Lawnscaping Challenge #103

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and I hope you’re ready for a new Lawnscaping challenge!

Our theme for this week is to add dimension to your project. You might use foam tape, double-sided tape, wobbly springs, or another technique. It doesn’t matter which one you choose, just add some pop to your entry!

Here’s my take on the challenge:

100_5586wm

And here’s another look at the dimension that I added to the card. I used foam tape to adhere the jar of honey to the card front.

Welcome to my new blog!

Hi, everybody! Welcome to lattesweetink, the new online home for all of my cards and projects! My new online ID combines my love of coffee and cute stamped images, and I know you’ll love what I have to share with you this month and in the future!

I just finished a year-long term with Some Odd Girl Stamps in March, and I’m currently on the Facebook Inspiration Team for Lawnscaping Challenges.  You’ll find all of my older posts here, since I’ve imported all of the posts from my old blog address to the new site!

I’ll post new cards for the Lawnscaping Challenges here on the first and third Mondays of each month, and I have a personal post day on the Lawnscaping blog on the second Monday of the month. The Facebook Inspiration Team also has a monthly blog hop on the last Friday of each month! And, of course, I’ll also share cards that I make for challenges and special events like blog hops.

So, settle in, take a look around, grab your favorite beverage of choice, and let me know what you think of the new site! And, if there are types of posts you’d like to see more often, let me know and I’ll plan on working them in!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’m glad you’re here!
