SOG Clear Release: Fairy in Flight!

Happy Wednesday, everybody! We’re on the final day of features for the clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl! Today’s featured stamp is “Fairy In Flight“:
She’s a blast to color up! I’m really trying to work on shadows and highlights, and I am pretty happy with how she came out! The highlights would be a bit more “real” if I hadn’t picked the paper with the sun on the left side!
To make the clouds, I stamped some white felt with the stamps in this set, then cut them out, flipped them over and added them to my card.
Don’t forget, we have a new challenge on the blog this month…show us your mad misting or masking skills (or both)! Get all the details and link up your entry at the SOG blog!

And, in case you haven’t heard, we’ve changed from the old ning community to a new group on Facebook…there are lots of fans chatting and sharing their Oddest creations already, so make sure you get in on the fun ASAP!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!
Hugs,

SOG Clear Release: Flutter Fairy

Well, hello there, Oddies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for some magical inspiration from Some Odd Girl! It’s release week, and we have some new fairies to feature who will be casting a spell on you!
Our first preview is “Flutter Fairy”, the first of three clear stamp sets being released this week! The set comes with the main fairy image, two butterfly stamps, and two sentiments! Here’s my take:
I’ll confess: my favorite color is purple, but I don’t craft a lot with it for some reason. I stamped the tag first, and heat embossed a pattern with the two butterfly stamps that are included with the set. I made an ombre background with three different colors of ink, and wiped off the excess.
Then, I colored the fairy to match, fussy cut her out, attached her to the tag with foam tape, and added some sparkly details to her dress and wings. Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment, border punched the bottom, and attached it to the tag.
We’ll have a new clear set to preview tomorrow, and will also be showcasing some new digis in the SOG Store! Make sure you stop by again tomorrow to check out all the gorgeousness!
And, we’re still in the process of moving our community from the ning group to our new Facebook group! There’s already lots of chat and gorgeous inspiration from our DT and your fellow Oddies, so if you haven’t joined in the fun, pop on over and get started!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I appreciate all of you! Hope you have a fantastic week!

Hugs,

Mist It, Mask It, Link It!

Hi, everybody! Where did the month of January go? I’m kind of glad it’s over, because that means warmer weather is on the way…or at least I hope it is!
Because it’s a new month, that means it’s also time for a new challenge at Some Odd Girl, and this month, we want to see your mad misting and/or masking skills!
Here’s my card! It features stamps from the “Hey Mae” and “Artist Mae” clear sets. I made a stencil with the triangle pattern from the Rectangle Card Background cut files, and made a custom background:
SOG Supplies: image stamp (Hey Mae), sentiment stamp (Artist Mae), cut file (Rectangle Card Backgrounds), Other supplies: watermark ink, white embossing powder, foam tape, assorted Copic markers, staples, washi tape (We R Memory Keepers), arrow paper clip (Freckled Fawn), neon ink (Hero Arts), staples, card stock, solid papers (American Crafts), embossing folder (Sizzix/Tim Holtz), rhinestones.
I sponged watermark ink onto the card stock after masking it with the stencil. Then, I removed the stencil and heat embossed white powder over the ink. I altered the embossing with neon inks, and wiped off the excess with a paper towel.
So, it’s your turn to get your craft on! Grab your SOG clear or digi stamps, get misting and masking and link your entry for this month’s challenge at the Some Odd Girl blog!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,

It’s new digi day at SOG!

Hi, everybody! I’m still under the weather, but I’m slowly getting better. I can’t wait to breathe normally again!

Today, I’m stopping in to share a card I made with one of the two new digi stamps available TODAY in the Some Odd Girl Store!

Meet “Ribbon”, who is sure to bring some smiles and sunshine to your day! I thought she would look great “cameo style”, so I used that idea as the inspiration for my card:

designer paper (“Fresh Cut” mini paper pad – Basic Grey), enamel dots (My Mind’s Eye), gold lace washi tape (Little B), gold pigment ink (Tsukineko), clear embossing powder, woodgrain paper (aMuse Studio), sentiment stamp (“Artist Mae” – Some Odd Girl), digital stamp (“Ribbon” – Some Odd Girl), assorted Copic markers, metal die (“Lacey Ovals” – Spellbinders).

Don’t forget about our featured digi, “Spectacular Soiree“, which is 35% off now (and for the next two weeks) in the SOG Store! And when you make something with “Ribbon” or Spectacular Soiree, share it with us, at Some Odd World, in our Facebook group, or maybe for our January “Tag, You’re It!” challenge!  We’d love to see what you make!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

It’s a new year, and a new challenge at SOG!

Happy 2014, everybody! We are wrapping up our holiday break at Some Odd Girl, by kicking off a new challenge for January! Our theme this month is “Tag, You’re It!,” and we want to see how you use tags in your crafting!

Today’s project is a tag with a secret! I altered the tag by embossing the background with the hearts in the “I Do” clear set, making a background with different colored inks, and dressing up the owl from the “Owl-Days” set.

While this may look like an ordinary tag for a birthday…

The back of the tag hides a secret compartment that’s perfect for a gift card! I trimmed a mini paper bag to make a pouch for the back of the tag. To make it easier to snag the card, I punched a half circle in the middle of the open end of the pouch before sticking it down.

Because I wanted to show you how it all came together, I don’t have a picture of the card secured in the envelope with a strip of washi tape. (That way the card doesn’t fall out.)
Now, it’s your turn! We want to see how creative you can be with tags in your projects! For all the details on this month’s challenge, and to link up your entry, visit the Some Odd Girl blog!
On a side note, I’ll be heading to CHA in Anaheim, CA in a few days. I can’t wait to see my friends again and meet new ones! I’ll also be spending some time in the Some Odd Girl booth, and I’m so excited!
Hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday season, and I wish you all the best in 2014!
Hugs,

A sweet new digi at Some Odd Girl!

HEY, HEY Oddies! Are you ready for some fresh digi inspiration? Then, you’re in luck! My card for today features “Sweet Kiss Kody,” one of two new digis available today in the Some Odd Girl Store!
(The sentiment and speech bubble are from the “I Do” clear set, which was released earlier this month.)
AWWWW…looks like Kody is getting a little “sugar” from Mae…
Don’t forget that our monthly challenge is still open! Our theme for this month is “Make Your Own Background”, and you can find inspiration and all the details for this challenge at the SOG blog! AND, there’s always something new at our ning community, Some Odd World, so stop by and say HI!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

SOG new digi release: Reading Tia

How-DEE! I hope you’ve enjoyed hopping along with the Some Odd Girl team and checking out all the festive HOL-ODD-DAY inspiration we have for you this week! If you haven’t had a chance to hop yet, start at the Some Odd Girl blog and join in the fun!
Today, while it might be snowy outside, I’m staying in and sharing a card that I made with one of this week’s new digi releases at SOG! Here’s “Reading Tia,” who looks a lot like I did when I was younger!
The sentiment is from the “Bliss” Nouveau Girls set, because nothing makes an avid reader like me as happy as getting lost in a good book!
I read more mysteries than any other type of book, and I’ve been drawn to Scandinavian authors lately. A couple of my favorites are Yrsa Sigardottir, Camilla Lackberg, and Mari Jungstedt. (I read the English translations, though.)
Hey, don’t forget! In addition to the HOL-ODD-DAY hop, don’t forget to check out what’s new at Some Odd World, our ning community, and stop by the SOG blog to get the details for our December challenge…we want to see how you’ll make your own background on your ODD creations!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a warm and cozy week so far!
Hugs,

OH! OH! OH! It’s a HOL-ODD-DAY Hop!

WELCOME to our Hol-ODD-Day Hop!  ‘Tis the season for the Odd Girls to get their craft on, and whip up some fun things just in time for the holidays!   Some Odd Girl is very happy to bring you our annual…

holodddayhop

This year, we are STOKED to bring you some of our gift and decor ideas that we hope will inspire you as we all head into the home stretch!  Today, we HOP!  All you have to do is visit all of the blogs in the hop and leave some love at each stop.

You should have arrived from Anna Sigga’s blog – if so, you’re definitely on the right track! If you need to start at the beginning, CLICK HERE, cause you won’t want to miss a beat!

For my hop project, I altered a metal container by decoupaging some fun holiday papers on the top, and I made a tag with the “HoliDeer” clear set.

Because you can’t have a gift container without adding something SWEET inside, I put together this tag making kit! There are two mini ink pads, blank tags, twine and a stamp set! It would be a great gift for a crafty friend who loves to stamp and color! (Depending on your gift budget, you could also add a few markers or pencils!)
Because birthdays are one of the most common gift-giving occasions, I made some sample tags with the “Birthday Mae” and “Tiny Baker Tia” clear sets. I kept the design simple so there’s room to write on the tag and colored two of the tags so you could get an idea of the finished project.

Needless to say, we have had a TON of fun making our Hol-ODD-Day projects, and we hope you have fun hopping with us!  Ready?  Here’s the hop list!

Suzanne Bier – you’re here!

So hop around, take your time, leave your comments between now and Sunday, December 15th and we’ll have some winners to announce on Monday, the 16th!  There may or may not be a stamp set or two up for grabs.  There may ALSO be (or maybe not!) some of the new Odds & Ends to win!  ANNNND there may even be some extras.  But you’ll have to join us throughout the week to find out!

Now you’re off to Kristy’s blog!  Enjoy the hop, Oddies, and we’ll be showing details of some of the projects throughout the week, so drop by and watch for your bonus chances to win!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you enjoy the rest of the fun on our HOL-ODD-DAY hop!

Hugs,
