Make It Crafty February CAS Challenge

Hi, everybody, and happy February! It’s time for a new Clean and Simple challenge at Make It Crafty!

Thanks to everyone who entered the January “No Image” CAS challenge! I know that because we all love to color Make It Crafty’s fabulous digi and rubber stamp images, we didn’t have many players last time, but we did have several brave players who took on the challenge and made some fabulous cards!

Our challenge for this month is “Splats.” I used a few of my Copic reinkers to make a background and dropped ink in a few different colors on plain white card stock. My main image is the Levana Lover Letter digi, and the sentiment is one of the phrases from the new “Outlined Words With Love” chipboard set!

I’ll have a new card to share with you on the Make it Crafty inspiration blog on February 9th, and I’d love it if you stopped by to say hello!

For more examples of the challenge theme and the details on this challenge, stop by the Make it Crafty blog and look for the challenge graphic on the right-hand side! Our challenge runs through the month of February, so there’s plenty of time to challenge yourself and play along with us! We can’t wait to see your entries!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your week is off to a great start!

Lawnscaping Challenge 123

Happy February! The snow is slowly melting here in northern Virginia, and I hope that means we’re done for the season.  Are you ready for a new Lawnscaping challenge? It’s time to kick off a new one, and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we’re inspired by the theme of “Sending LOVE”!

I’m featuring some stamps from Lawn Fawn‘s classic “Love ‘n Breakfast” set on today’s card:

I kept the design simple with a background panel of paper from the “Let’s Polka in the Dark” petite paper pack. I chose to have heart-shaped toast popping out of the toaster instead of the regular-shaped slices of bread.

One lucky person who plays along with us in this challenge will win a $25 gift certificate provided by our sponsor, Ellen Hutson!  The deadline for this challenge is Wednesday, February 10, so make sure you link your entry at the Lawnscaping blog!

Lawnscaping Challenge: Add Texture

Hi, crafty friends! I’m playing along with the new Lawnscaping challenge, which is to add texture to your card or project! This week’s challenge is sponsored by Lawn Fawn Stamps!
At first, I thought about using an embossing folder for texture, but after pulling out my Lawn Fawn stamps and flipping through them to pick what sets I would use, I came across the “Yeti, Set, Go” set and was inspired to make a “pettable” yeti by stamping on felt.
I used Staz-On ink to stamp on white felt for most of the yeti’s fur, and a small piece of teal felt for his tummy. I trimmed the felt and glued both pieces on another yeti that I stamped on card stock. I stamped the yeti again, colored in his face, trimmed it and glued it on top of the felt.
Here’s a close-up look at the yeti. You can see the dimension of the felt on the card stock. I also added texture with gloss medium on some hearts stamped from Lawn Fawn’s “Happy Feast” and “Critters Ever After” sets. To make textured snow, I added some chunky glitter glue to a strip of paper. It wasn’t quite dry when I took the picture, so I went back and used mini glue dots to adhere his feet to the snow.

Here’s the graphic for this challenge, which ends on Wednesday, August 27. You can find all of the challenge details and inspiration from the Lawnscaping Design Team at the Lawnscaping blog
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your week is off to a great start!

You’ll HEART today’s new Gwen digi at Some Odd Girl Stamps!

Hi everybody! I know the new clear release at Some Odd Girl Stamps is making your heart skip a beat, but there’s one more newbie that you’re sure to love…meet “I Heart U Gwen“, the new digi being released today!
I couldn’t let her get lost in the excitement of the clear release, so this post is just for her! Here’s my take:
To create the sentiment, I chose a stamp from the “Flirty Mae” clear set and a wood veneer heart from our friends at Freckled Fawn! I also used some delicious Blue Bamboo Twine from the Odds & Ends section of the Some Odd Girl Store!

Thanks so much for stopping by again today! To stay up to date on all things ODD, make sure you sign up for the Some Odd Girl Stamps newsletter!

Hugs,

LOVE is in the air with the new SOG digis!

Hey there, everybody! I’m sharing two new cards today that I made with the digis being released today at Some Odd Girl
My first card features “Hand Holding Mae & Kody“, and it also happens to be the card I made to give to my husband for Valentine’s Day!
Some Odd Girl supplies: digital stamp (“Hand Holding Mae & Kody“); Other supplies: designer paper (“Head Over Heels” mini pad – Echo Park), wood heart accent (Freckled Fawn), heart dimensional stickers (Prima Marketing), various Copic markers, white opaque marker (American Crafts).
My second card features “Grand Couple”, the second new SOG digi in today’s release! I picked a sentiment from the “Threshold Mae” clear set to go with the image.
Some Odd Girl Supplies: digital stamp image “Grand Couple“, sentiment “Threshold Mae” clear set. Other supplies: wood heart chips (Freckled Fawn), designer paper (Basic Grey – Bittersweet {retired}), heart dimensional stickers (Prima Marketing), assorted Copic markers.
I colored the wood hearts to match my project with the chisel end of some Copics, then added the heart “gem” in the middle. I often use the chisel end of my Copics when I’m coloring something and I’m not sure how well the surface will work with the markers. The hearts colored up beautifully, though!
So glad you stopped by for a visit today! If you haven’t already, join SOG’s new Facebook group…there are always fun discussions going on! Recent topics have included craft room furniture, storing markers, printing digital images, and we’re all getting to know our fellow group members!
Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!
Hugs,

You’ll {heart} the featured digi at Some Odd Girl!

Happy Monday to you! Hope you had a great weekend!
I’m popping in today with a card that I made with the new featured digi at the Some Odd Girl Store! And, with Valentine’s Day coming up this Friday, it’s a perfect time to snag this one!
Here’s “2 Hearts Kody and Mae“, which is 35% off in the SOG Store for the next two weeks:
I made the sentiment with word stamps from SOG’s “I Do” and “Dare to Be Gwen” clear sets. The heart accent is from the “Flirty Mae” clear set.
For the layout, I used Deconstructed Sketch #137:
When I was at CHA last month, my friend Thanh & I went to a hockey game one night. Before the game, we stopped by Sprinkles Cupcakes in downtown L.A.

I was excited when I found out there’s a location near us in D.C., so Scott and I picked up some cupcakes on Saturday. I love that they also have mini doggie cupcakes…and our doggie did, too! We bought one to see if he’d like it and cut in in half.

He loved it!
Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll be back tomorrow with a card featuring one of the newest digi stamps at Some Odd Girl! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Hugs,

A sweet new digi at Some Odd Girl!

HEY, HEY Oddies! Are you ready for some fresh digi inspiration? Then, you’re in luck! My card for today features “Sweet Kiss Kody,” one of two new digis available today in the Some Odd Girl Store!
(The sentiment and speech bubble are from the “I Do” clear set, which was released earlier this month.)
AWWWW…looks like Kody is getting a little “sugar” from Mae…
Don’t forget that our monthly challenge is still open! Our theme for this month is “Make Your Own Background”, and you can find inspiration and all the details for this challenge at the SOG blog! AND, there’s always something new at our ning community, Some Odd World, so stop by and say HI!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

Valentine’s Day: The Grim Creeper Returns!

It’s Valentine’s Day, and whether it’s a holiday you love or loathe, we hope you’ll LOVE the cards we’ve created for you today!

In case you’re wondering what this is all about, some of my crafting besties and I came up with ideas for “stalker sentiments” on one of our very, very late night crafty chats.

We had our first “Grim Creeper” hop on Halloween, and the response was so great, we wanted to share some more with you on Valentine’s Day with another blog hop!

The idea behind these cards is to subtly surprise and creep you out.  I am sort of ashamed to admit, but these come easy to me…maybe I watch too many crime-related TV shows or scary movies, but some of the sentiments were pretty easy to come up with!

So, I have two cards to share with you today! They both feature some free retro photos I found online and each has a “stalker sentiment” from our ever-growing list.

Your next stop on our “Grim Creeper” hop is Aileen’s blog! (You can find the full list of hop participants at the bottom of my post!)

Don’t worry, I’ll be back to my regular schedule tomorrow with a blog hop to celebrate The Greeting Farm‘s newest release…it’s simply to DIE for!

Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear from you! I read all of the comments that y’all leave for me…and if you have any questions about my these or any of my cards, I’ll definitely answer them!
