SOG Clear Release: Hipster Mae!

Hey, everybody! I hope you’re having a blast with us during release week at Some Odd Girl! If you haven’t joined our Facebook community yet, get over there! We’re having contests, playing games and chatting about all things ODD (and there are some prizes up for grabs, too)!

Today, we shine the spotlight on “Hipster Mae“!

I bought a sheet of cork at Michael’s, and have been experimenting with it on my projects. I wasn’t sure if the cork would be a good stamping surface, but I LOVE the result! For some reason, I thought the ink would bleed, but it stamped really crisp and made a great custom accent!

Don’t forget, we also have a new monthly challenge for you to play along with! It’s all about GOLD! Head over to the SOG blog to get all the details, and link up your entry!

I’ll be back tomorrow with the third clear set being released this week, “Hipster Mae“! But, you can head over to the SOG Store NOW, and snag all three sets!

Have you seen SOG’s new bamboo twine? It’s fabulous, and perfect when you want to add pops of bright color to your creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your week is going well so far! See you in the SOG Facebook group for more release week festivities and fun!

Hugs,

We’re also celebrating the grand official opening of our new Facebook community, and if you haven’t joined us there yet, now’s the time! I’ll have a little more info on that in a moment, but before we get to that, here’s my project for today featuring the first of three new sets in this release!

Meet “Hipster Kody“: I created a pillow box for today’s project, and used the main image of Kody and one of the sentiments from the set.

SOG Clear Release: Fairy in Flight!

Happy Wednesday, everybody! We’re on the final day of features for the clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl! Today’s featured stamp is “Fairy In Flight“:
She’s a blast to color up! I’m really trying to work on shadows and highlights, and I am pretty happy with how she came out! The highlights would be a bit more “real” if I hadn’t picked the paper with the sun on the left side!
To make the clouds, I stamped some white felt with the stamps in this set, then cut them out, flipped them over and added them to my card.
Don’t forget, we have a new challenge on the blog this month…show us your mad misting or masking skills (or both)! Get all the details and link up your entry at the SOG blog!

And, in case you haven’t heard, we’ve changed from the old ning community to a new group on Facebook…there are lots of fans chatting and sharing their Oddest creations already, so make sure you get in on the fun ASAP!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

SOG Clear Release: Flutter Fairy

Well, hello there, Oddies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for some magical inspiration from Some Odd Girl! It’s release week, and we have some new fairies to feature who will be casting a spell on you!
Our first preview is “Flutter Fairy”, the first of three clear stamp sets being released this week! The set comes with the main fairy image, two butterfly stamps, and two sentiments! Here’s my take:
I’ll confess: my favorite color is purple, but I don’t craft a lot with it for some reason. I stamped the tag first, and heat embossed a pattern with the two butterfly stamps that are included with the set. I made an ombre background with three different colors of ink, and wiped off the excess.
Then, I colored the fairy to match, fussy cut her out, attached her to the tag with foam tape, and added some sparkly details to her dress and wings. Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment, border punched the bottom, and attached it to the tag.
We’ll have a new clear set to preview tomorrow, and will also be showcasing some new digis in the SOG Store! Make sure you stop by again tomorrow to check out all the gorgeousness!
And, we’re still in the process of moving our community from the ning group to our new Facebook group! There’s already lots of chat and gorgeous inspiration from our DT and your fellow Oddies, so if you haven’t joined in the fun, pop on over and get started!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I appreciate all of you! Hope you have a fantastic week!

Hugs,

SOG New Release: First Dance Mae

Welcome! We’re wrapping up the celebration of the new clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl today with a feature on the third set being released! Put on your dancing shoes; it’s time to waltz with “First Dance Mae“!

I think this set would be great to use for a prom layout, too! All you’d have to do is color her dress!

And, as you’ve probably noticed, I created a custom background on my card. This one uses the “Star Fall Background” cut file.

Don’t forget, there’s a new challenge at the Some Odd Girl blog! Pop over to the SOG blog for all the deets on our “create your own background” challenge and to link up your entry! We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with for this challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

SOG New Release: I Do

Hi, everybody! So glad you could stop by for today’s featured stamp set from the newest release at Some Odd Girl! Today’s featured set, “I Do,” has five sentiments and two images, all perfect for expressing your love!
My card features a custom background made with the mini hearts included in the set, and I used the Love x3 sentiment to make some customized patterned paper. And, I couldn’t resist including a cute raccoon and a sentiment from the “Love Bandit” set:
We’re also celebrating the release of two new digi stamps today, and I made a card with “Pajama Tobie” to share with you! The sentiment is from the “Grow” clear stamp set.
My layout is based on the current sketch at Mojo Monday (#322):
Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you tomorrow for the final day of our clear stamp release celebration! Get your dancing shoes ready as we feature “First Dance Mae”!
Also, don’t forget that we kicked off a new challenge at Some Odd Girl… we want to see all the creative ways you “create your own background”! Pop over to the SOG blog for all the deets and to link up your entry! We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with for this challenge!

SOG New Release: Threshold Mae!

Greetings! You are cordially invited to the first day of previews for the December clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl!

Today’s card features “Threshold Mae,” who has just tied the knot with her true love! This set also comes with two sentiments; one is showcased on my card! You can see ALL of the GORGEOUS-ness that the other Odd Girls created with this set at the SOG blog!

I used a few new techniques on my card that I hope will inspire you! I folded some silver washi tape and used a mini heart hole punch to make a border strip.
I also changed the look of the two heart brads. They were originally white, but I coated them in watermark ink, and dipped the inked top in silver embossing powder and heat set it (tweezers are a BIG help to hold the brad while using the heat tool). Keeping the brad in the tweezers, I applied another layer of embossing powder to the brad and heat set it again.
Stay tuned…We’ve got lots of presents for YOU this week…in addition to two more clear stamp sets releasing this week, there will be two new digital stamps in the SOG Store tomorrow! AND be sure to make a note to join us for our HOL-ODD-DAY Hop on December 9!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you back here tomorrow!
Hugs,

TGF August Release – Day 2 Peeks!

Hi, everybody! I’m joining in the second day of previews of the August release at The Greeting Farm! There’s something for everyone in this month’s release, and it’s all about celebrations and birthdays because…TGF is celebrating its 5th birthday in August! WOOHOO!

It’s “clear” that you’ll enjoy all the creative possibilities with the stamp set we’re previewing today, especially if you’re into solid stamping! My first card for today was created with a few of the different rectangles in the “Clear Birthday” set.

I stamped the cake stand with silver pigment ink, then stamped the rectangles to make a tiered birthday cake, then completed the image by stamping the candles in a different color ink. I also heat embossed the full image with clear embossing powder. (The sentiment on my card is also included in the set.) I added rhinestones for a finishing touch!

(layout inspired by retro sketches #73)

This set isn’t just about building birthday cakes! I used the gumdrop stamp and sentiment from this set to make a clean and simple card:

Each gumdrop was stamped in a different color. Then, I added glitter glue (Distress Stickles Rock Candy) to each gumdrop to give it a little sugary sparkle. How sweet is that?

So, what do you think? Would you like to win this stamp set? Great! You’ll find the full list of the design team members participating in today’s preview at The Greeting Farm’s blog!

Stop by each designer’s blog to check out their preview creations, leave a SWEET comment for each one (and stop by the TGF blog to leave a comment there and let us know you’ve visited all the blogs, and we’ll pick a random winner from all the comments!

We’ve planned one more day of sneak peeks for you…so I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 3 of the TGF August previews! Make sure to also join us on August 1 for our new release blog hop, when the new release stamps and will be available in the TGF Store!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs,
