Lawnscaping Challenge 127

Hi! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping Challenge! Because it’s cherry blossom time here in Northern Virginia and the DC area, and the theme for our challenge is “Beautiful Florals“, I combined the two for my card:

I found that I didn’t have a bunch of Lawn Fawn‘s flower stamps in my collection, so I used the little cherry blossoms from the “Let’s Roll” set and the branch from the “Winter Sparrows” set to make a cherry tree with blossoms. The skunk is from a retired, limited-edition Lawn Fawn set.

Instead of coloring the skunk with Copics, I stamped it in a dark grey ink and used black Memento ink with a water brush to create a watercolor look.

One lucky person who plays along with us in this challenge will win a $25 gift certificate provided by our sponsor, Ellen Hutson! The deadline for this challenge is Wednesday, April 13, so make sure you link your entry at the Lawnscaping blog!

MiC CAS Team: Background Technique Challenge

Hi, everybody! Did you see the announcement about Make It Crafty’s new CAS (Clean and Simple) team? I’m super excited to be part of this team of talented ladies, and we’re going to have tons of inspiration for you!

We’re kicking this term off with our first monthly challenge! (You may have seen a smaller version of my card on the post with the team announcement.)

The theme of our challenge is to create your own background on your entry. For my card, I chose MiC’s fabulous “Felicity” digi stamp. I made the neon part of the background by applying ink over a stencil that I made with my die cut machine.

I used a strip of striped paper to break up the bright background pattern. My only other additions to the card front were the sentiment and the main image!

Want even more inspiration with Make It Crafty stamps? Then, you’re in luck! The other members of the MiC CAS Team have some gorgeous cards to share with you:

Lawnscaping Challenge #95: White on White (Monochromatic)

Hi, everybody! I can’t believe it’s December already. Where did the year go?
One super thing about December is that my term on the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team starts today!
Since it’s also the first Monday of the month, there’s a new challenge for you on the blog! The theme for this challenge is white on white (monochromatic). Instead of making a “polar bear in a blizzard”, I created a wedding-themed card:
To make the dress, I chose the “Sew Lovely” set, which is also one of my first Lawn Fawn stamp sets. The sentiment is from “Sophie’s Sentiments“.
Now it’s your turn! For all of the details on this challenge, and some gorgeous DT inspiration, visit the Lawnscaping blog. And for further motivation, Simon Says Stamp is sponsoring this challenge…one lucky winner will receive:
I’ll be joining the Facebook Inspiration Team today on the Lawnscaping Challenge Facebook page with MORE challenge inspiration, so make sure you “like” the page so you won’t miss a thing!
Hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Paper Smooches Guest Designer Search – October

Hi, everybody! I’m stopping in today to share a card I made for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. I’m also sharing other cards I’ve made with Paper Smooches stamps to try for a Guest Designer spot at Paper Smooches in October!
October is my favorite month, not only because it’s fall, but also because my birthday’s in October! (This year is also a “milestone” birthday, but I won’t say which one, because I certainly don’t feel that I’m that age!)
Today’s card features a rockin’ cat from the “Chubby Chums” set and some elements from the “Beboppin” set. I also made the leopard print paper with a stamp from the “Little Lady” set. To make the headphones, I punched and trimmed two circles from matching cardstock.

The layout is inspired by Deconstructed Sketch #167:

And here’s a peek at the inside of the card.

You can find all of the details on the current “Anything Goes” SPARKS challenge, and link up your entry, at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog! Details on the Deconstructed Sketch challenge can be found at deconstructing jen.
Here are the other cards I’m entering into the Paper Smooches guest designer contest! Each one was entered into a past Paper Smooches or SPARKS challenge, and are some of my all-time favorite PS cards. (You can click on each picture to make it larger.)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and a super fun weekend!

SCRS Challenge: Double Embossing

Hi, everybody! There’s a new challenge at Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps…and it’s all about double embossing!
I double embossed a strip of black cardstock to create the houndstooth accent on my card, which features “Backpack Oliver“:

Here’s how I double embossed the cardstock:

  1. I rubbed an anti-static pouch over the cardstock strip.
  2. I inked one side of an embossing folder with watermark ink. (Using a brayer makes this step much easier, because you get more even coverage of the ink on the folder.)
  3. I embossed the cardstock strip by placing it in the embossing folder and running it through my Big Shot machine.
  4. I removed the strip from the embossing folder and sprinkled embossing powder on the inked and embossed cardstock, then shook off the excess.
  5. I heat embossed the cardstock.

Our challenges run for two weeks, so you have until Sunday, September 22 at 9PM Pacific Time to enter this challenge! Don’t forget, to qualify for the prize, you must use a Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp on your entry!

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: I’m Craving Navy!

Hi, everybody! Today, I’m sharing a card that’s inspired by Moxie Fab World’s current Tuesday Trigger! Here’s what I came up with:

I drew from the metallic and warm grey elements in the picture and combined them with the navy for my card. It’s more of a clean and simple design than what I normally do, but I’m happy with how it came out!

 Here’s the inspiration photo:
