Hi, Oddies! It’s our last digi release in February, and I’ve made another card featuring the “grands” to share with you today! Here’s “Grand Dance”, one of two new digi stamps available today in the Some Odd Girl Store:
I chose a sentiment from the “First Dance Mae” clear set. I think it’s perfect for this digi, too!

Putting a new face on your SOG stamps with masking!

Hi, everybody! It’s my turn to share a tutorial on the Some Odd Girl Stamps blog, and today I’m teaching you how you can mask parts of your stamps give your favorite SOG images a new expression!
I’m also showing how you can use masking to add props to your stamped images:

A FAIRY wonderful digi release at Some Odd Girl!

Hi, everybody! Can I just say that I’m SO over winter? We got pummeled with snow late last week, and while I have experience driving and walking in it, the “fun” of it wore off a long time ago!

Because I’m looking forward to Spring (and I’m sure you are, too), I’m sharing two cards that I made with the newest digi stamps at Some Odd Girl! Both of the images and cards make me smile and put me in a Spring-time frame of mind!

First up is “Daydreaming Fairy“:
Some Odd Girl supplies: digital stamp (“Daydreaming Fairy”) Other supplies: patterned paper (American Crafts/Dear Lizzy), washi tape (We R Memory Keepers – yellow, orange, blue; Little B – gold lace), rub-on letters (American Crafts/Pebbles), circle punch, assorted Copic markers, Stickles glitter glue.

And next is “Daffodil Fairy“:

Some Odd Girl supplies: digital stamp (“Daffodil Fairy”), clear stamp (“Sunny Mae“); Other supplies: patterned paper (“Park Bench” 6×6 pad – Fancy Pants Designs), Assorted Copic markers, Stickles glitter glue, opaque white marker.

Can you tell that I spent lots of time on the shadows and shading? I’m really trying to improve my technique with pleats and shading and light. I’ve found the best way to get better is to practice! And, there are so many awesome technique videos out there, and I definitely look them up when I’m stumped! (Kristy has lots of live color along videos on the Some Odd Girl UStream channel!)

The layouts for both cards were inspired by the current Deconstructed Sketch (#138):

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I brought you some sunshine with these cards…and I hope you have a wonderful week! Don’t forget, there’s still time to show us your mad misting or masking skills (or both)! Make sure to link up your entry at the SOG blog!

And, in case you haven’t heard, we’ve changed from the old ning community to a new group on Facebook…there are lots of fans chatting and sharing their Oddest creations already, so make sure you get in on the fun ASAP!

Hugs,

LOVE is in the air with the new SOG digis!

Hey there, everybody! I’m sharing two new cards today that I made with the digis being released today at Some Odd Girl
My first card features “Hand Holding Mae & Kody“, and it also happens to be the card I made to give to my husband for Valentine’s Day!
Some Odd Girl supplies: digital stamp (“Hand Holding Mae & Kody“); Other supplies: designer paper (“Head Over Heels” mini pad – Echo Park), wood heart accent (Freckled Fawn), heart dimensional stickers (Prima Marketing), various Copic markers, white opaque marker (American Crafts).
My second card features “Grand Couple”, the second new SOG digi in today’s release! I picked a sentiment from the “Threshold Mae” clear set to go with the image.
Some Odd Girl Supplies: digital stamp image “Grand Couple“, sentiment “Threshold Mae” clear set. Other supplies: wood heart chips (Freckled Fawn), designer paper (Basic Grey – Bittersweet {retired}), heart dimensional stickers (Prima Marketing), assorted Copic markers.
I colored the wood hearts to match my project with the chisel end of some Copics, then added the heart “gem” in the middle. I often use the chisel end of my Copics when I’m coloring something and I’m not sure how well the surface will work with the markers. The hearts colored up beautifully, though!
So glad you stopped by for a visit today! If you haven’t already, join SOG’s new Facebook group…there are always fun discussions going on! Recent topics have included craft room furniture, storing markers, printing digital images, and we’re all getting to know our fellow group members!
Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!
Hugs,

You’ll {heart} the featured digi at Some Odd Girl!

Happy Monday to you! Hope you had a great weekend!
I’m popping in today with a card that I made with the new featured digi at the Some Odd Girl Store! And, with Valentine’s Day coming up this Friday, it’s a perfect time to snag this one!
Here’s “2 Hearts Kody and Mae“, which is 35% off in the SOG Store for the next two weeks:
I made the sentiment with word stamps from SOG’s “I Do” and “Dare to Be Gwen” clear sets. The heart accent is from the “Flirty Mae” clear set.
For the layout, I used Deconstructed Sketch #137:
When I was at CHA last month, my friend Thanh & I went to a hockey game one night. Before the game, we stopped by Sprinkles Cupcakes in downtown L.A.

I was excited when I found out there’s a location near us in D.C., so Scott and I picked up some cupcakes on Saturday. I love that they also have mini doggie cupcakes…and our doggie did, too! We bought one to see if he’d like it and cut in in half.

He loved it!
Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll be back tomorrow with a card featuring one of the newest digi stamps at Some Odd Girl! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Hugs,

SOG Clear Release: Fairy in Flight!

Happy Wednesday, everybody! We’re on the final day of features for the clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl! Today’s featured stamp is “Fairy In Flight“:
She’s a blast to color up! I’m really trying to work on shadows and highlights, and I am pretty happy with how she came out! The highlights would be a bit more “real” if I hadn’t picked the paper with the sun on the left side!
To make the clouds, I stamped some white felt with the stamps in this set, then cut them out, flipped them over and added them to my card.
Don’t forget, we have a new challenge on the blog this month…show us your mad misting or masking skills (or both)! Get all the details and link up your entry at the SOG blog!

And, in case you haven’t heard, we’ve changed from the old ning community to a new group on Facebook…there are lots of fans chatting and sharing their Oddest creations already, so make sure you get in on the fun ASAP!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

SOG Clear Release: Acorn Fairy

Happy Tuesday! We’re on the second day of previews for Clear Stamp Release Week at Some Odd Girl! Our featured clear stamp for today is a sweet and nutty little dude…we call him “Acorn Fairy“:
I used a couple of stamps from the “Nutsy Kaylee” set (the woodgrain heart and the sentiment). It’s retiring, and it’s a perfect companion set to “Acorn Fairy,” so make sure you pick it up in the SOG store while it’s still available!
And that’s not all, folks! There are two new digi stamps in the store, too! I’m sharing a card with “Formal Mae,” and she is totally fabulous! My card layout is based on Deconstructed Sketch #136.
I used a sentiment from the “Dare to Be Gwen” clear set and one of the gold doilies that you can find in the “Odds and Ends” section of the SOG Store!

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today! I hope you’re having a great week so far!
Hugs,

SOG Clear Release: Flutter Fairy

Well, hello there, Oddies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for some magical inspiration from Some Odd Girl! It’s release week, and we have some new fairies to feature who will be casting a spell on you!
Our first preview is “Flutter Fairy”, the first of three clear stamp sets being released this week! The set comes with the main fairy image, two butterfly stamps, and two sentiments! Here’s my take:
I’ll confess: my favorite color is purple, but I don’t craft a lot with it for some reason. I stamped the tag first, and heat embossed a pattern with the two butterfly stamps that are included with the set. I made an ombre background with three different colors of ink, and wiped off the excess.
Then, I colored the fairy to match, fussy cut her out, attached her to the tag with foam tape, and added some sparkly details to her dress and wings. Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment, border punched the bottom, and attached it to the tag.
We’ll have a new clear set to preview tomorrow, and will also be showcasing some new digis in the SOG Store! Make sure you stop by again tomorrow to check out all the gorgeousness!
And, we’re still in the process of moving our community from the ning group to our new Facebook group! There’s already lots of chat and gorgeous inspiration from our DT and your fellow Oddies, so if you haven’t joined in the fun, pop on over and get started!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I appreciate all of you! Hope you have a fantastic week!

Hugs,

Mist It, Mask It, Link It!

Hi, everybody! Where did the month of January go? I’m kind of glad it’s over, because that means warmer weather is on the way…or at least I hope it is!
Because it’s a new month, that means it’s also time for a new challenge at Some Odd Girl, and this month, we want to see your mad misting and/or masking skills!
Here’s my card! It features stamps from the “Hey Mae” and “Artist Mae” clear sets. I made a stencil with the triangle pattern from the Rectangle Card Background cut files, and made a custom background:
SOG Supplies: image stamp (Hey Mae), sentiment stamp (Artist Mae), cut file (Rectangle Card Backgrounds), Other supplies: watermark ink, white embossing powder, foam tape, assorted Copic markers, staples, washi tape (We R Memory Keepers), arrow paper clip (Freckled Fawn), neon ink (Hero Arts), staples, card stock, solid papers (American Crafts), embossing folder (Sizzix/Tim Holtz), rhinestones.
I sponged watermark ink onto the card stock after masking it with the stencil. Then, I removed the stencil and heat embossed white powder over the ink. I altered the embossing with neon inks, and wiped off the excess with a paper towel.
So, it’s your turn to get your craft on! Grab your SOG clear or digi stamps, get misting and masking and link your entry for this month’s challenge at the Some Odd Girl blog!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
