It’s New Digi Tuesday at Some Odd Girl!

Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! I have two cards to share with you today that feature the new digi stamp and sentiment cut file at Some Odd Girl Stamps!

It looks like the newest resident of Odd Land is enjoying some retail therapy! Say hello to “Shopping Piper“! I chose a sentiment from the “Hey Mae” clear stamp set, and the heart speech bubble comes from the “I Do” clear stamp set.

You may recognize the “Party Crab” digi stamp from a recent release, and I chose one of the new “Chill Sentiment Cut Files” to go along with him:
We’re almost halfway through August, so don’t forget about the Linky Party at the Some Odd Girl blog! There’s no special theme or requirements, other than you linking up your latest ODD creations so we can see what you’ve made with Some Odd Girl Stamps! You’ll find the link tool on the right-hand side of the blog…and your creation might be featured in one of our weekly spotlights!
Thank you so much for stopping by today! Hope your week is off to a great start! I’ve been fighting off allergies but that won’t stop me from getting things done this week! Make sure to stop by the Some Odd Girl blog to see what the other Odd Girls have made with the new digi and cut file!

Back To School with the Lawnscaping Challenge!

Hi, crafty friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I’m stopping in today to share my entry for the current Lawnscaping challenge! The theme is “Back to School”, and even though I don’t have any little ones (or big ones) heading off to school soon, I made this bookmark:
I used papers from the “Into the Woods” 6×6 Petite Paper Pad, the “Winter Owl” stamp, the small graduation cap from the “So Much To Say” set, and the sentiment comes from the “Science of Love” stamp set. I made my own cork reinforcement and tassel to finish off the bookmark.
For more details on this challenge, and to link up your entry, please visit the Lawnscaping Challenge blog!
I’ll be back on Tuesday with a post at the Sweet Stamp Shop blog, and the newest digis from Some Odd Girl Stamps! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope your week is off to a great start!

New Digi Tuesday at Some Odd Girl Stamps: Welcome, Piper!

Happy Tuesday, everybody! Are you ready for the new digital stamps at Some Odd Girl Stamps? We’re continuing the summer and tropical themes this week with the first digi featuring Piper, the newest member of the Some Odd Girl Stamps family. Here’s “Mermaid Piper“, isn’t she gorgeous?
I took my time coloring this image, and I love how it turned out! I wanted to make Piper the focus of my tag, so I kept it pretty simple with some photo-realistic sky paper and some hand-cut waves. I heat embossed a sentiment from the “Make a Statement ” clear stamp set on vellum, and finished off the tag with a star sequin, a shell from the “Under the Sea Mae ” clear set, a handmade cork reinforcement and some funky net ribbon from my stash.
My second card features “Sea Turtle“, the newest digi critter swimming in to Some Odd Girl Stamps! I used some nautical-themed papers and my go-to sand effect, which is a thin layer of Distress Stickles (Antique Linen) over a strip of torn kraft card stock.

Now that we’ve flipped the calendar to August, don’t forget that there’s a new Linky Party kicking off at the Some Odd Girl blog! There’s never a theme for this; we just want you to link up your latest ODD creations so we can see what you’ve made with Some Odd Girl Stamps! You’ll find the link tool on the right-hand side of the blog…and your creation might be featured in one of our weekly spotlights!
Thank you so much for stopping by today! Hope your week is off to a great start! I’ve been fighting off allergies but that won’t stop me from getting things done this week! Make sure to stop by the Some Odd Girl blog to see what the other Odd Girls have made with the new digis!

Ahoy! New stamps are sailing in to Sweet Stamp Shop!

Ahoy! It’s time for a new release at Sweet Stamp Shop, and we have four fabulous sets arriving in the store today!

I made three cards for this release, and each has a little secret. My first card features mirror stamping with the “Fishy” set:

The fish on the left is stamped like normal, and the fish on the right was mirror stamped. I used the info I found in this tutorial on the Sweet Stamp Shop blog to flip the image. It’s so much easier than I thought it would be!
My second card uses the “Fishy” and “Beach Bum” sets, with a guest appearance from the “Alpha Tabs” set for the crab’s “salty” language. The secret on this card is how I stamped the sun…with the back of the beach ball stamp in the “Beach Bum” set.
I saved the most elaborate surprise for my third card. I wanted to make a treasure chest, but there wasn’t one in the set. I made my own by stamping the clay pot from the “Stuck on This” set twice, using one as the lid and the other as the base. I cut a strip of acetate to open and close the chest. (It’s hidden behind the sequins in the chest and I made an inner layer with the lid to hide the sentiment, and the other half of the acetate.)
Here’s a look at what the card front looks like with the lid closed and with it open:
I used stamps from the “Ahoy” set to create the treasure map corner, for the banner sentiment, and of course, the parrot on the top of the treasure chest. The stamped sand texture is from the “Beach Bum” set. The pirate hat is from the “Too Hip” set, and the fox and birthday stamp are from the “Foxy” set.
Here’s another look at Sweet Stamp Shop’s August release: “Beach Bum“, “Sail Away Sayings“, “Ahoy” and “Fishy“:
Make sure to stop by the Sweet Stamp Shop blog for more info on these sets, including new release specials, bundles or discounts!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

Take a trip to the tropics with the new digis at Some Odd Girl Stamps!

Well, hello there, everybody! It’s Tuesday, so you know what that means…new digis at Some Odd Girl Stamps! We have a tropical theme this week, starting with “Hula Mae”! I loved coloring her, because I got to practice more tanned skin tones and black hair!
To make the background, I chose a journaling card that would work for the sky and punched a circle for the sun. Then, I stamped two rows of waves from the “Under the Sea Mae” clear stamp set. The sand was made with my usual technique of tearing a strip of kraft card stock followed by a thin layer of Distress Stickles (Antique Linen) on the kraft card stock.
This next card is dear to my heart. As soon as I saw that we had “Jellyfish” as our second new digi for this week, I wanted to do something fun with them. One of them looks like he’s saying HI, but I wasn’t sure what to do with the other. I love the sentiment, but needed a way to make one of the jellyfish funny. Lucky for me, the pack of stickers also had a mustache that was perfect!
I can’t stop smiling whenever I look at this card! It reminds me of fun times with my pal Thanh. Here’s one of the pictures we took at the Elmer’s booth at CHA this past January:
WOOD you like to be inspired by some fabulous creations combining Some Odd Girl Stamps and ARC Crafts‘ wood veneers? All this week, Some Odd Girl Stamps is partnering with ARC Crafts for an awesome event! Pop over to the Some Odd Girl blog for all the fun! We were BLOWN AWAY by the versatility of their wood veneer products, and I know you will be, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope your week is going well so far!

Paper Smooches SPARKS: Designer Draft Challenge!

Hi, crafty friends! I hope your week is off to a great start. Today was a busy day for me, but I managed to fit in some time to play along with the current Designer Drafts challenge at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog!
The sketch for this challenge is perfect for building a scene. For some reason, the image of a dachshund pulling links of sausage out of a birthday present got stuck in my head, so I put that scene together on this card!

All of the stamps on today’s card are from Paper Smooches stamp sets: the dachshund is from the “Woofers & Tweeters“set, the sausage is from the “Wake Up” set, the party hat was made from small stamps in the “Party Posse” set, and the sentiment is from the “Birthday Sampler” set. The only image that isn’t from a PS set is the present/box, which I made with a metal square die, and outlined the edges with a black pen to match the other parts of the scene.
Here’s a look at the sketch:
For all the details on this challenge, and to link up your entry (the deadline is Saturday, August 2nd at 11:59pm PST), please visit the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog

I hope you enjoyed my card…thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll be back tomorrow with the newest digis at Some Odd Girl Stamps! See you then!

Lawnscaping Challenge: Watercoloring

Hi, everybody! Hope you’re having a great weekend! I’m stopping in today to share my card for the latest Lawnscaping challenge! This week’s challenge is sponsored by Lawn Fawn Stamps, and the theme is watercoloring. I haven’t done much watercoloring for a while, but I am glad I challenged myself!
I created a watercolor effect with the solid flower stamps in Lawn Fawn’s “Let’s Roll” set. First, I inked the flowers with a water-based dye ink, thinned the ink with a water brush, then stamped the flowers onto some slightly-textured natural paper.
I stamped the chopsticks on kraft card stock, stamped and colored the sushi rolls on white card stock, and stamped the sentiment on black card stock with watermark ink, then heat embossed opaque white powder over the stamped sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll be back on Tuesday with the new digi stamp release from Some Odd Girl Stamps! See you then!

Some SWEET tips on adding detail without adding bulk!

Hi everybody! I’m up on the Sweet Stamp Shop blog today with some tips on making fun detailed (and mailable) cards! Here’s a peek at the card I made, featuring Sweet Stamp Shop‘s new “Royal Wish” and “Enjoy Calligraphy” sets!
While this card has a few layers, you’ll see that it’s still thin enough to mail in a regular envelope!

For the full details on how this card came together, check out my post at the Sweet Stamp Shop blog!

Some Odd Girl Stamps: New Digi Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday, everybody! I have two cards to share with you today featuring the newest digital stamps in the Some Odd Girl Store
After so many moves over the past few years, I’m happy to say that we’re finally settled in one place! I definitely know what “Moving Kaylee” is going through…boxes, boxes, boxes! I made this card with the idea that it would be given to somebody moving into a new home, but the digi could also work for a “miss you” card, or for a daughter moving away to college!
I used the current Deconstructed Sketch (#160) as the inspiration for my card layout. I flipped the sketch and chose a zigzag border instead of the one in the sketch. I also moved the accent/flowers to the bottom.
My second card features “Party Pig“, the newest critter in Odd-land, who borrowed the balloons from his pal “Party Crab“! I printed both images, colored and cut out the balloons, then layered them over the pig digi. I drew the balloon strings in with a very fine-tipped black pen.

So, there you have it…two new digis making their debut this week in the Some Odd Girl Stamps Store!
If you aren’t part of the Some Odd Girl community on Facebook, join us, won’t you? You’ll find challenges, weekly spotlights of your fellow Oddies, sneak peeks of new digi and clear stamp releases, and MORE!
