Check out what’s new at Some Odd Girl Stamps!

Hey, hey everybody! Have you seen what’s being released this week at Some Odd Girl Stamps? In addition to the clear stamp release, you’ll find a gorgeous “Sunshine Sorbet” 6″ x 6″ paper pad, wood hexie dots and a coordinating sequin pack!
As you can see, the papers are super fun and work so well with the Some Odd Girl clear and digi stamps! And, although you can’t see in the photo, the papers are nice and thick.
Each sheet has bold geometric patterns on one side, and is solid white on the other. Each 6″ x 6″ Sunshine Sorbet paper pad has two sheets of 12 coordinating designs.
Here’s a card I made with several of the papers and the “Hipster Mae” clear set:
You can also get a peek at the sequins and wood hexies in my card photo. The hexies come in a more natural style, offering up lots of possibilities for your projects! You might have noticed that I altered a few of the hexies with brown ink to make custom accents for my card.
Here’s a photo of all the new Odds & Ends, which hit the Some Odd Girl Stamps Store TODAY!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’ll have more to share with you tomorrow, when we feature the first of TWO new clear stamp sets making their debut! For more delicious inspiration with the Sunshine Sorbet paper pad and the rest of the new goodies, stop by the Some Odd Girl Stamps blog!

Paper Smooches Guest Designer Search – October

Hi, everybody! I’m stopping in today to share a card I made for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge. I’m also sharing other cards I’ve made with Paper Smooches stamps to try for a Guest Designer spot at Paper Smooches in October!
October is my favorite month, not only because it’s fall, but also because my birthday’s in October! (This year is also a “milestone” birthday, but I won’t say which one, because I certainly don’t feel that I’m that age!)
Today’s card features a rockin’ cat from the “Chubby Chums” set and some elements from the “Beboppin” set. I also made the leopard print paper with a stamp from the “Little Lady” set. To make the headphones, I punched and trimmed two circles from matching cardstock.

The layout is inspired by Deconstructed Sketch #167:

And here’s a peek at the inside of the card.

You can find all of the details on the current “Anything Goes” SPARKS challenge, and link up your entry, at the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog! Details on the Deconstructed Sketch challenge can be found at deconstructing jen.
Here are the other cards I’m entering into the Paper Smooches guest designer contest! Each one was entered into a past Paper Smooches or SPARKS challenge, and are some of my all-time favorite PS cards. (You can click on each picture to make it larger.)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and a super fun weekend!

Lawnscaping Challenge: One Layer Card

Hi, everybody! Hope you are having a good week so far! I’m playing along with the current Lawnscaping challenge, which is to make a one-layer card.

My order with the new Lawn Fawn stamp sets came in yesterday, so I started playing with them! As you’ve probably noticed with other cards I make, one of my favorite techniques is creating a scene with masking, which is perfect for this challenge!

Except for the grass stamp, all of the stamps I used are from the brand-new “Spooktacular” set. You’ll find the grass stamp in “Critters at the Dog Park“.

I created the background by masking off all the stamped images and sponging on a few shades of purple ink. Then, I colored the images and heat-embossed the sentiment.
I would have liked the embossing to be sharper, but that’s my fault…I didn’t let the background ink dry long enough. I think that I’ll stamp the sentiment before creating the background when I try this technique again.
Here’s another look at the card so you can see it’s only one layer:
For all of the details on this challenge, or to link up your entry before the deadline (Wednesday, September 10th), stop by the Lawnscaping Challenge blog! And while you’re there, check out what the DT made for the challenge…there’s lots of fun, one-layer inspiration!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

A SWEET farewell at Sweet Stamp Shop!

Happy Saturday, crafty friends! Today marks my final Design Team post at Sweet Stamp Shop. For today’s project, I made these cupcake toppers with a few of Sweet Stamp Shop‘s clear sets:
The past three months on the Sweet Stamp Shop team have been a whirlwind of fun and learning new techniques and getting to share my creations with some super-cute and super-fun stamps with you!
I’m so happy to have had the chance to be part of such a talented team, and special thanks to Nicole and Chrissie for making my time with the team so sweet! A new team is set to take over in September, and I hope they have as much fun as I did!
I’d love it if you stopped by the Sweet Stamp Shop blog to say HI, and to see how these toppers came together! Since I wrote my Sweet Stamp Shop post earlier this week, the cupcakes are long gone, but I can promise you that they were delicious!
Hope you have some crafty time planned for the weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

A Foxy Challenge at Moxie Fab World!

Hey there, crafty friends! I’m stopping in this evening to share my card for the new Foxy Foxes Challenge at Moxie Fab World! My friend Thanh challenged me to join her in playing along with the challenge, so here’s what I made with a few of my Some Odd Girl stamp sets and some Simple Stories paper and stickers.

I dressed both foxes with accessories from the “Preppy Pups” and “Hipster Pets” clear stamp sets. The fox on the right is also from the “Hipster Pets” set, and the fox on the left is “Foxy.”
My card was inspired by this fun picture of Thanh & me from CHA this past January that we took at the Elmer’s booth. (You might remember that I shared this picture before on my blog.) A lady who stopped by the Some Odd Girl Stamps booth was kind enough to lend Thanh her foxy scarf for our photo:
The deadline for this challenge is midnight EST on Sunday, September 14th, so there’s still time for you to join in the fun! You can find all of the guidelines and link up your entry at Moxie Fab World!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you enjoyed my card and are inspired to create something foxy, too!

Shrink Plastic Magnets will bring some ODD to your locker!

Hi, crafty friends! I’m up on the Some Odd Girl Stamps blog today with more shrink plastic inspiration!
I made some bottle cap magnets with images and sentiments from various Some Odd Girl stamp sets. I think you’ll find that this project is perfect for bringing some ODD to a school locker or to your fridge!

Violin Gwen is LIVE at Some Odd Girl Stamps!

Hi, everybody! It’s new digi Tuesday at Some Odd Girl Stamps, and we’re wrapping up this month’s digi releases with another new Gwen digi! I’d like to introduce “Violin Gwen“, who is ready for her solo performance:
I used some elegant papers from my stash (“Capella” and “Serenade” 6×6 pads by Basic Grey) with gold accents added with the twine, a piece of gold patterned transparency, the heat-embossed sentiment (from the “Make A Statement” clear set), and I heat embossed a gold border on a plain wood button. I also used a gold metallic pen on the border of one of the papers.
I think the pleats in her dress came out okay. One of my goals is to get more practice with pleats and clothing folds and layers. I’m not sure if an online class would be for me, but it is something I’m researching.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! You’ll seriously want to keep up with Some Odd Girl Stamps on the blog, in the Facebook community and through the newsletter…we have some AMAZING new stuff coming up this month, and you won’t want to miss a minute!

Ballerina Gwen makes her debut with Some Odd Girl Stamps!

Hi, crafty friends! It’s New Digi Tuesday at Some Odd Girl Stamps! We have one new digital stamp to showcase today, so without further ado, I’d like to present the ever-graceful “Ballerina Gwen“. Doesn’t she look ready for her solo?

I heat embossed a sentiment from the “First Dance Mae” clear set on vellum. It works perfectly with Ballerina Gwen, don’t you think? The paper has been in my stash for some time now (it’s Basic Grey’s “Serenade” 6×6 paper pad). I added some glitter glue to her dress and wood star accents to complete the card.

We’re halfway through August, but there’s still time to link up your latest ODD creation to the Linky Party at the Some Odd Girl blog! You’ll find the linky tool on the right-hand side of the blog…and your creation might be featured in one of our weekly spotlights!

Hope your week is off to a great start! I have a lot of non-crafty stuff going on this week; looks like it’ll be a busy one! Make sure to stop by the Some Odd Girl blog to see what the other Odd Girls have made with the new digis! Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Lawnscaping Challenge: Add Texture

Hi, crafty friends! I’m playing along with the new Lawnscaping challenge, which is to add texture to your card or project! This week’s challenge is sponsored by Lawn Fawn Stamps!
At first, I thought about using an embossing folder for texture, but after pulling out my Lawn Fawn stamps and flipping through them to pick what sets I would use, I came across the “Yeti, Set, Go” set and was inspired to make a “pettable” yeti by stamping on felt.
I used Staz-On ink to stamp on white felt for most of the yeti’s fur, and a small piece of teal felt for his tummy. I trimmed the felt and glued both pieces on another yeti that I stamped on card stock. I stamped the yeti again, colored in his face, trimmed it and glued it on top of the felt.
Here’s a close-up look at the yeti. You can see the dimension of the felt on the card stock. I also added texture with gloss medium on some hearts stamped from Lawn Fawn’s “Happy Feast” and “Critters Ever After” sets. To make textured snow, I added some chunky glitter glue to a strip of paper. It wasn’t quite dry when I took the picture, so I went back and used mini glue dots to adhere his feet to the snow.

Here’s the graphic for this challenge, which ends on Wednesday, August 27. You can find all of the challenge details and inspiration from the Lawnscaping Design Team at the Lawnscaping blog
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your week is off to a great start!

A Pair of Photo-Inspired Challenge Cards!

Happy Friday, crafty friends! I have a couple of cards to share with you today for two photo inspiration challenges at Moxie Fab World and the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog
My first card is for the “Trendy Triangles” challenge at Moxie Fab World. I made the triangle paper by sponging shades of neon ink through a stencil, then flipped the stencil to sponge on the black triangles.
I created the stencil with one of the “Rectangle Card Background” cut files from Some Odd Girl Stamps. Instead of cutting the pattern on card stock, I cut a transparency sheet to make a reusable stencil. I did a tutorial on this technique a few months ago on the Some Odd Girl Stamps blog. The sentiment is from Some Odd Girl Stamps’ “Party Girl Gwen” clear stamp set.
Here’s the inspiration photo for this challenge. I was inspired by the colors and the confetti, which led me to making of a fun birthday card!
The deadline for this challenge is Wednesday, August 20. Stop by the Moxie Fab World blog for all the details and to link up your entry, or to check out the other entries!

My second challenge card is for the Paper Smooches SPARKS “Picture Perfect” challenge. I used Paper Smooches’ “We Totally Click” stamp set and the “Thanks Word Die“.

Here’s the inspiration photo for this challenge, which ends Saturday, August 16th at 11:59 PM PST. I chose the gray of the lamp and pink (although the pink that I used is much brighter than what’s in the picture.) I’m also entering this card in Paper Smooches’ September Guest Designer Search!
For all the details on this challenge, or to link up your entry, visit the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend with some crafting time in there somewhere!
