Here are the colors for Challenge #99:

My card is very simple this week, but I’m happy with how it came out!

The card base is Tempting Turquoise, which was embossed with a Big Shot. The gingham ribbon is by Making Memories. I used Bo Bunny Double Dot in Almond as a substitute for the cream color. I used Chocolate Chip cardstock and ink to stamp the image, which is part of a new Stampin’ Up hostess set named “Cute by the Inch.”

Thanks for looking, and I hope you’ll visit the Color Throwdown this week for the 100th Challenge Celebration…I definitely will!

CPS #174

This week’s Card Positioning Systems sketch (#174) was a fun one…it’s simple, but it got me thinking about different ways to position elements on my cards.

Here’s the sketch:

and this is the card that I made based on the sketch:

Curtain Call #37

To celebrate Stacey Schafer’s birthday this week, the latest Curtain Call Challenge at Stacey’s Stamping Stage features these fun colors, inspired by these tasty-looking cupcakes from Hello Sugar!

My husband’s birthday was a few weeks ago, but because he was away doing soldier-type things on his actual birthday, we didn’t get to celebrate until this weekend. I made him a German Chocolate cake (from scratch) using a recipe I found at the Betty Crocker web site. It’s a lot of work, but it’s delicious!
Using the challenge colors and cupcakes as inspiration, I made this card:
I used SU cardstock in the challenge colors, and also Natural White. The cupcakes and sentiment are stamped with Chocolate Chip ink. The cupcake stamps are from Elzybells Art Stamps, and the sentiment (and flower stamp) comes from SU’s “Short & Sweet” stamp set.
The polka-dot paper is from My Mind’s Eye. I added white grosgrain ribbon to the card, and glued rhinestones to each flower’s center.
Happy Birthday, Stacey!

Thank you all for visiting!

Stampin’ Celebration #9

In honor of July 4/Independence Day weekend, the inspiration photos for this week’s Stampin’ Celebration challenge are USA-inspired!

I chose the red, white and blue stripes as my inspiration for the card that I made. Also, I thought of ice cream when I saw the picnic photo…so I came up with this design:
To make the card background, I used strips of Real Red and Night of Navy cardstock, alternated on a Natural White cardstock background. I used kraft cardstock to mat the stamped images and sentiment. The stamps I used are from Stampin’ Up’s “Sweet Scoops” set.
I used Basic Blue, Real Red, Creamy Caramel, and Soft Suede inks.
I also used a Martha Stewart border punch, mini silver brads, white grosgrain ribbon, and cork accents from Pink Paislee’s 365 Degrees collection.
Thanks very much for looking!

Unscripted Sketches #62

I’m a guest designer for this week’s Unscripted Sketch (#62)! My experience was wonderful, and I’d be honored if I was asked to guest design again in the future!

Just a little bit about me: I’m an Army wife, married to a wonderful man named Scott, who is not only my best friend and a marvelous husband, he supports and encourages my papercrafting hobby! We have a dog named Midnight, who’s a mix of dachshund and miniature poodle. Every so often, as is typical of Army life, we move to somewhere new, and it’s great to have hobbies like card making and scrapbooking to help me make new friends in new places. We live near Fort Lewis, Washington and we love it here!

I had so much fun with this week’s Unscripted Sketch! I often use sketches like the ones at Unscripted to help me create my cards…when you have such great sketches like these, it’s much easier to create a beautiful card or project, because you’ve got one less thing to figure out!

Now, on to the sketch:

and here’s my card!

I used Elzybells Art Stamps for the images and sentiment. Everything is stamped in Stampin’ Up’s Basic Black ink. The paper is from American Crafts and SEI. I used Bazzill Swiss Dot for the card base and sentiment matting. I cut out a circle of vellum to make the large bubble in the background.

I made the soap brad using my i-Top and an Elzybells stamp and colored the image with a Glaze pen. I also used Glaze and Stardust pens and a colored pencil to color in the larger stamped image. I used a Copic marker to color in the skin areas and a colored pencil for the rosy cheeks!

The wave effect on the paper strips was created with an EK Success border punch.

To make the foamy bubbles in the tub, I used Frosted Lace Stickles, and I added some adhesive KaiserCraft pearls to make the other “bubbles” on the card.

Thanks so much for visiting, and a big THANK YOU to Unscripted Sketches for having me as a guest designer! Keep visiting Unscripted Sketches…their “Christmas in July” event lasts all month!

Unscripted Sketches #61

My final post in this batch of updates is for Unscripted Sketches #61. This card is one of my favorites! At first, I was wondering what I would do with this week’s sketch, but I was finally inspired by my love of…COFFEE! (I’m sure that has nothing to do with the fact that we live less than an hour away from Seattle.)

Here’s this week’s Unscripted Sketch:

The stamps that I used for my card are from Elzybells Art Stamps’ “Cool Beans” set. I love these coffee cups!
I stamped everything in SU Chocolate Chip ink, including the coffee bean background on kraft paper. The base is Bo Bunny Double Dot cardstock, and I also used Bazzill cardstock (brown) and SU cardstock to complete the card (green and white). I used a copper gel pen and a Stardust pen to add the glittery accents. I also cut a piece of cork for the button center. I stamped a heart on each coffee cup and colored them in with Glaze pens.
Thanks for looking!!!!
By the way, Unscripted Sketches is celebrating Christmas in July all month long with something new every day…giveaways, tips, prompts, guest designers, prizes, challenges, design team spotlights, games and lots more!

Stampin’ Celebration #8

Stampin’ Celebration is a relatively new weekly challenge blog, and I love playing along with their challenges! Each week, there is a different collage of photos for you to draw inspiration from. All you have to do is create a stamping project using the photos as your inspiration!

Here’s Challenge #8:

I drew from the flowers, cupcakes, and colors to create my card. I used SU cardstock for most of the card, and a piece of Cosmo Cricket’s DeLovely collection paper to mat the stamped collage of cupcakes.
The cupcakes are stamped with an Elzybells Art Stamp (that I think is supposed to be for a chocolate bon-bon). I colored the “frosting” with colored pencils. Both the cupcakes and the sentiment (from Savvy Stamps) were stamped in Creamy Caramel SU ink. The flowers on top of the cupcakes are from SU’s “With All My Heart” set. The card base is embossed with the Big Shot.
Thanks for looking, and I hope you’ll visit and play along with Stampin’ Celebration, too!

Card Patterns #70

The card I made for this week’s Card Patterns sketch challenge contains a sneak peek of a stamp available in the new Stampin’ Up catalog, which will be online July 1!

This week’s challenge is sponsored by Gina K Designs…one random participant will receive the “Fine Furnishings” stamp set! (You can find out more about the challenge and check out the prize by clicking HERE.) Here’s the sketch so you can play along, too!

For my card, I used a stamp from the new SU “Artistic Etchings” set and rotated the sketch.
In place of the buttons in the sketch, I used fleur-de-lis brads. I embossed the card base (made with DCWV cardstock) with a Tim Holtz folder. The patterned paper is by Graphic 45 and the letters I used for the sentiment are by Webster’s Pages.
Thanks (merci) for looking!

Curtain Call #36

With the 4th of July holiday coming up, it’s no surprise that the colors for this week’s Curtain Call Challenge at Stacey’s Stamping Stage feature red, white & blue (and kraft)!
I used papers from Pink Paislee’s 365 Degrees collection for my card, as well as SU cardstock in the challenge colors.
The telephone stamp is by Paper Source, and the sentiment is from SU’s “Hello Again” set. I used Soft Suede and Real Red ink to stamp the image and sentiment. I embossed the strip of Night of Navy cardstock with the SU-exclusive Square Lattice Textured Impressions folder and inked it with white chalk ink. The cork accents are also part of the Pink Paislee 365 Degrees collection. I also used a Stardust pen to accent the card.
Thanks for looking!

CPS #173

This week’s CPS sketch (#173) was a challenge! I’m not used to putting a lot of little images on a card or making a narrow card, but I gave it a try!

Here’s the sketch in case you’d like to play along, too!

For my card, I used a small teacup stamp from Elzybells Art Stamps to create the side images. The teapot and sentiment stamps are from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps.

I used SU Soft Suede ink for the teacups, and Chocolate Chip ink for the teapot. The card base is SU cardstock, and the papers I used are SEI (glitter circle paper), American Crafts (polka dot), Core’dinations (gemstones cardstock to mat the sentiment) and Bo Bunny (Almond Double Dot). The ribbon is from Martha Stewart Crafts.
I also used an orange glaze pen to create the tea inside the cups and I colored the teapot with colored pencils.
