Join in the Coffee Lovers’ Bloghop!

It’s National Coffee Day here in the USA, and I’m happy to celebrate it with a bunch of super-talented caffeinated crafters by participating in the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!
You can find all of the details and the full list of blogs in today’s hop at Chaitali’s blog, Cuts Crops Creativity, including the prize list from all of the generous companies donating prizes for the hop:
Much like it’s hard to decide what to order at my favorite coffee shop, I couldn’t decide on just one project to share with you today, so I made a card and a tag!
First up is my tag! I combined Some Odd Girl Stamps‘ “Mr. Octopus” with the “Hipster Pets” coffee cup stamp, and a sentiment from the “Breakfast Friends” set with some papers from my stash.
I thought it would be fun for Mr. Octopus to use all of those arms of his to hold not just one or two, but THREE cups of coffee! After coloring the image and fussy-cutting it, I cut along the lines on his arms and adhered the cups in place.
Next up is my card, which features Reverse Confetti‘s “Be A Barista” stamp set. I had fun figuring out what fancy latte design I’d use, and decided on the one with the hearts since it’s a sweet thank you card.
I had several different shades of brown ink, but none of them looked quite right, so I inked the stamp with Memento Toffee Crunch, then with Memento Desert Sand. The blend of the two inks worked perfectly! I love the color!
I chose the current Deconstructed Sketch (#170) for my card layout and altered a few of Some Odd Girl Stamps‘ wood veneer hexie dots in place of the flowers on the sketch:
Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s projects! Grab a refill of coffee (or tea) and head over to Chaitali’s blog, Cuts Crops Creativity for the full hop list! Thanks for stopping by today!
Hugs,

It’s a new year, and a new challenge at SOG!

Happy 2014, everybody! We are wrapping up our holiday break at Some Odd Girl, by kicking off a new challenge for January! Our theme this month is “Tag, You’re It!,” and we want to see how you use tags in your crafting!

Today’s project is a tag with a secret! I altered the tag by embossing the background with the hearts in the “I Do” clear set, making a background with different colored inks, and dressing up the owl from the “Owl-Days” set.

While this may look like an ordinary tag for a birthday…

The back of the tag hides a secret compartment that’s perfect for a gift card! I trimmed a mini paper bag to make a pouch for the back of the tag. To make it easier to snag the card, I punched a half circle in the middle of the open end of the pouch before sticking it down.

Because I wanted to show you how it all came together, I don’t have a picture of the card secured in the envelope with a strip of washi tape. (That way the card doesn’t fall out.)
Now, it’s your turn! We want to see how creative you can be with tags in your projects! For all the details on this month’s challenge, and to link up your entry, visit the Some Odd Girl blog!
On a side note, I’ll be heading to CHA in Anaheim, CA in a few days. I can’t wait to see my friends again and meet new ones! I’ll also be spending some time in the Some Odd Girl booth, and I’m so excited!
Hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday season, and I wish you all the best in 2014!
Hugs,

OH! OH! OH! It’s a HOL-ODD-DAY Hop!

WELCOME to our Hol-ODD-Day Hop!  ‘Tis the season for the Odd Girls to get their craft on, and whip up some fun things just in time for the holidays!   Some Odd Girl is very happy to bring you our annual…

holodddayhop

This year, we are STOKED to bring you some of our gift and decor ideas that we hope will inspire you as we all head into the home stretch!  Today, we HOP!  All you have to do is visit all of the blogs in the hop and leave some love at each stop.

You should have arrived from Anna Sigga’s blog – if so, you’re definitely on the right track! If you need to start at the beginning, CLICK HERE, cause you won’t want to miss a beat!

For my hop project, I altered a metal container by decoupaging some fun holiday papers on the top, and I made a tag with the “HoliDeer” clear set.

Because you can’t have a gift container without adding something SWEET inside, I put together this tag making kit! There are two mini ink pads, blank tags, twine and a stamp set! It would be a great gift for a crafty friend who loves to stamp and color! (Depending on your gift budget, you could also add a few markers or pencils!)
Because birthdays are one of the most common gift-giving occasions, I made some sample tags with the “Birthday Mae” and “Tiny Baker Tia” clear sets. I kept the design simple so there’s room to write on the tag and colored two of the tags so you could get an idea of the finished project.

Needless to say, we have had a TON of fun making our Hol-ODD-Day projects, and we hope you have fun hopping with us!  Ready?  Here’s the hop list!

Suzanne Bier – you’re here!

So hop around, take your time, leave your comments between now and Sunday, December 15th and we’ll have some winners to announce on Monday, the 16th!  There may or may not be a stamp set or two up for grabs.  There may ALSO be (or maybe not!) some of the new Odds & Ends to win!  ANNNND there may even be some extras.  But you’ll have to join us throughout the week to find out!

Now you’re off to Kristy’s blog!  Enjoy the hop, Oddies, and we’ll be showing details of some of the projects throughout the week, so drop by and watch for your bonus chances to win!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you enjoy the rest of the fun on our HOL-ODD-DAY hop!

Terrific Tags for Farm Fresh Friday at TGF!

Happy Friday! I’m stopping in today to share my project for the new Farm Fresh Friday challenge at The Greeting Farm! It’s my turn to pick a theme for the challenge and write up the post, so I chose “Terrific Tags”, since we’re going to be celebrating the holidays soon!

  • Entries must be uploaded via InLinkz no later than Thursday, October 10 at NOON CST

CCC Week #12 – Tags!

Happy Sunday! I hope you enjoyed The Greeting Farm’s blog hop announcing our new die and stamp combo sets! Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by and left comments…I always enjoy reading your comments to see what you think about my cards and projects!

Today, I’d like to share my tag for this week’s Christmas Card Challenge, which is of course, tags!

I featured the adorable “Light Me Up” image by Your Next Stamp on today’s tag:

Other supplies: patterned paper (My Mind’s Eye), sentiment stamp (PaperTrey Ink), Stickles, Copic markers, opaque white marker.

Remember, all of our challenges are optional…the only “real” rule is that you must create a new Christmas, Holiday or Hannukah card, then link it up on our blog so we can stop by and say hi!

It’s not necessary that you use a Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp on your card, but we sure love it when you do!

Don’t forget to visit the rest of the CCC team to take a peek at the fun and festive cards they’ve created this week: AlannaCorinneJennifer, JovitaKarenKatieLeesaLorieMargoMichelePatStephanie…and our guest designer Juliane!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful week, and don’t forget to link your entry on the Christmas Card Challenges blog! See you there!

Cupcake toppers created with the new “Critter Crew” set!

These are super easy to make…color the critters, use a metal die to create the topper, tape to a straw and top the cupcake! (The frosting is easy too…just spoon the can of frosting in a gallon zipper bag, cut one of the corners, and spiral on…I picked the 4 most photogenic ones for the picture.)

Valentine/love tag created with new “I Ruff You” set (the banner comes from the new Fishtail Banner set, and the heart is from the Whatnots Seasons One set!)
As always, we have a Blog Hop Special in the Your Next Stamp Store! All online orders will receive 20% OFF! Just use code YNSJAN2013.
