SOG New Release: First Dance Mae

Welcome! We’re wrapping up the celebration of the new clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl today with a feature on the third set being released! Put on your dancing shoes; it’s time to waltz with “First Dance Mae“!

I think this set would be great to use for a prom layout, too! All you’d have to do is color her dress!

And, as you’ve probably noticed, I created a custom background on my card. This one uses the “Star Fall Background” cut file.

Don’t forget, there’s a new challenge at the Some Odd Girl blog! Pop over to the SOG blog for all the deets on our “create your own background” challenge and to link up your entry! We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with for this challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

Hugs,

SOG New Release: I Do

Hi, everybody! So glad you could stop by for today’s featured stamp set from the newest release at Some Odd Girl! Today’s featured set, “I Do,” has five sentiments and two images, all perfect for expressing your love!
My card features a custom background made with the mini hearts included in the set, and I used the Love x3 sentiment to make some customized patterned paper. And, I couldn’t resist including a cute raccoon and a sentiment from the “Love Bandit” set:
We’re also celebrating the release of two new digi stamps today, and I made a card with “Pajama Tobie” to share with you! The sentiment is from the “Grow” clear stamp set.
My layout is based on the current sketch at Mojo Monday (#322):
Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you tomorrow for the final day of our clear stamp release celebration! Get your dancing shoes ready as we feature “First Dance Mae”!
Also, don’t forget that we kicked off a new challenge at Some Odd Girl… we want to see all the creative ways you “create your own background”! Pop over to the SOG blog for all the deets and to link up your entry! We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with for this challenge!
Hugs,

SOG New Release: Threshold Mae!

Greetings! You are cordially invited to the first day of previews for the December clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl!

Today’s card features “Threshold Mae,” who has just tied the knot with her true love! This set also comes with two sentiments; one is showcased on my card! You can see ALL of the GORGEOUS-ness that the other Odd Girls created with this set at the SOG blog!

I used a few new techniques on my card that I hope will inspire you! I folded some silver washi tape and used a mini heart hole punch to make a border strip.
I also changed the look of the two heart brads. They were originally white, but I coated them in watermark ink, and dipped the inked top in silver embossing powder and heat set it (tweezers are a BIG help to hold the brad while using the heat tool). Keeping the brad in the tweezers, I applied another layer of embossing powder to the brad and heat set it again.
Stay tuned…We’ve got lots of presents for YOU this week…in addition to two more clear stamp sets releasing this week, there will be two new digital stamps in the SOG Store tomorrow! AND be sure to make a note to join us for our HOL-ODD-DAY Hop on December 9!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you back here tomorrow!

SOG December Challenge: Make Your Own Background

Hi, everybody! we’re ringing in December with a new challenge at Some Odd Girl! Thanks so much to everybody who joined in the speech bubble fun for our last challenge! We’re keeping the creativity going this month with a “MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND” challenge!
For my card today, I chose the giraffe and a sentiment from the “On Safari” clear set:

I made my custom background with one of the patterns in the Rectangle Backgrounds cut file. Instead of die cutting card stock, I used the file to cut a transparency that was the size of a card front to create a stencil. Then, I secured the stencil to the card stock and my work surface with washi tape and sponged ink onto the card stock.

After letting the ink dry, I tore one side of the card stock panel and finished making my card!

So, now it’s time for you to grab your SOG stamps and your craft supplies, and get inky with it!

Make a card, tag, or other creation that uses an SOG image and is based on the theme for this month’s challenge, then link your entry on the post for this challenge at the Some Odd Girl blog! We can’t wait to see what you’ll create for this one!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a wonderful week! I’ll be part of the December clear stamp release previews this week at Some Odd Girl…I know you’ll fall in LOVE with all of them!

Hugs,

Say HEY to Wave Mae!

Hello there, Oddies! I hope you enjoyed the gingerbread card that I showcased yesterday as part of this week’s joint festivities with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Some Odd Girl!

We’ve joined forces with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L this week, so make sure to visit both the Some Odd Girl and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blogs to see what projects they’re featuring today, and to leave comments for a chance at one of TWO SWEET adhesive prize packs OR a $20 gift certificate to the SOG Shop!

Today, I’m sharing a card that features a new digi stamp just released at Some Odd Girl! Say “hey” to “Wave Mae”! The sentiment is from SOG’s “Tiny Baker Tia” clear set. The layout is based on Deconstructed Sketch #128.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you’re having a wonderful week, and if you’re in the United States, I hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday!
Hugs,

Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Some Odd Girl join forces this week!

WELCOME, Odd friends!  As promised, we have an exciting week planned for you!  Some Odd Girl and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L – we’re STICKIN’ IT TO YA!

Today marks the first of five days of bonding stamps and sticky stuff! It’s going to be a fun and inspiring event that runs November 25th through December 1st, and I’m part of today’s showcase of stunning creations to share with you while you hop!

On my card, I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L’s 3D Foam Squares – White Mix to create some dimension, and here’s a little peek at the layers from the side:

I used some of the larger foam squares to adhere the plate to the card front, and the smaller foam squares to stick the gingerbread man to the plate. I LOVE how these squares are separated from each other on the backing sheets…they are ready to go!

I’ll share a little secret with you…I am a foam square addict!!! I use foam tape or squares on many of my cards.

Sometimes I want to add support to a section, but it’s too small for a big square, so I cut them in half or into thirds before I stick them down on my project. It works great for a different shape, like the arms on the gingerbread man. With a strip of a larger foam square, the whole arm is supported instead of a part of it!

Here’s a picture of my card from the front! The image and sentiment are from SOG’s “Gingerbread Kaylee” clear stamp set! I made the plate by layering two punched circles, and drew in some crumbs with a matching pen. I used a scallop circle punch to make the “bite” in the gingerbread man’s leg.

And there you have it! Some Odd Girl and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L will be sharing projects on their blogs Monday through Friday, and if you follow along and comment on each of the posts along the way (that’s 10 comments you’ll need to make, folks!), you’ll be entered to win some serious swag from both companies!

There are two happy boxes of adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and two $20 gift certificates to the Some Odd Girl shop to be won! Here are the main blog links: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Some Odd Girl!

Be sure to make your way around to both blogs each day this week. You have until Sunday, December 1st at midnight EST to squeeze in all your commenting – we’ll be announcing the two lucky winners on the SOG blog on Monday, December 2nd!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

SOG New Digi and New Community Challenge!

Hi, everybody! I’m excited to share a card with you today featuring the latest digi released at Some Odd Girl! Are you ready for some delicious inspiration? Let’s kick things off with a preview!
We’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving here in the United States next Thursday, and it looks like “Turkey Kaylee” is ready for the feast to begin! My inspiration for coloring Kaylee was Lucille Ball from the classic TV show, “I Love Lucy”! I love Kaylee’s cool retro look, don’t you?
But wait, there’s more!

Did you see that there’s a new featured digi at Some Odd Girl? “Indian Tia” is on sale for the next two weeks at 35% off! Check out what The Odd Girls created with her…you’ll find some totally fabby ideas!

There’s still time to join in on our November challenge, “Speech Bubbles“! We’re up to 15 entries, but we’d love to see some more! Head over to the SOG blog for all the details, and to link up YOUR entry!

AND there’s even more! We’re kicking off a new challenge in the ning community…here’s what I’ve made for the challenge:

For all the details, pop over to our ning community, Some Odd World, and check out the fabby inspiration and let us see your take on the challenge! If you’re not a member of the community, all it takes is a quick sign-up, and you’re in!

Football Tia makes a touchdown at SOG!

Hey everybody! Just popping in today to share a card that I made with one of the two new digis released today at Some Odd Girl! Here’s “Football Tia“:
Since my husband is a San Francisco 49ers fan and I follow the New Orleans Saints, I couldn’t decide which team colors to use…so I colored her up in some fierce hot pink and black gear! Maybe she’s playing Powder Puff Football?
My card layout is inspired by CAS(E) This Sketch! #53:
Thanks for stopping by today! If you haven’t hopped along in our cross-promo hop with Perfect Paper Crafting, make sure you do! You could win some Perfect Paper Crafting products just for commenting on each blog! Head over to the SOG blog to get started!

A Perfectly ODD Hop!

WELCOME to A Perfectly Odd Hop!  We Odd Girls have partnered up with the lovely ladies from Perfect Paper Crafting to bring you something fun and different! You should have arrived from Perfect Paper Crafting’s blog, and now you’re visiting me (Suzanne Bier)!

PPChop
We had the pleasure of getting together with Perfect Paper Crafting at CHA in Vegas, and a collaborative event was an absolute NO-BRAINER!  Would the Odd Girls like to try out some fun tools?  Heck yes!  Does the Perfect Paper Crafting team want to play with some cute stamps?  Sure thing!  And it’s a match made in heaven…

Today, both teams come together to bring you a fabulously inspiring BLOG HOP that will run through Sunday, November 17th.  There are 16 stops along the way including the main blogs, and PLENTY of inspiration for you to enjoy, so we hope you have as much fun as we’ve all had in this little partnership!

If you’re not already familiar with Perfect Paper Crafting, you are in for a TREAT!  Their tools allow crafters to get perfect placement of their mats and edges, easily shape and layer, and AIRBRUSH for gorgeous effects on their projects!  The Odd Girls enjoyed playing with their Perfect Layers, Perfect Squares, and Perfect Ruler for this little event!

I’m sharing a tag today that I made with help from the Perfect Ruler and features stamps from the Breakfast Friends and Holly Day Gwen clear sets:

I used the Perfect Ruler to trim the paper I used on my tag, and the tag pattern. It was super fun to play with the ruler, and it’s a great portable tool that I can keep on my desk and not only use it to trim paper, but tear paper, align layers on a project, and of course, draw a straight line for lining up brads or embellishments, or creating faux stitching.
Be sure to comment at EVERY stop and you’ll be eligible to win one of TWO prize packs that include one of these tools and a stamp set of your choice!  Your next stop is Eva Uyeunten’s blog.

We’ll be sharing inspiration throughout the week so you can see how the Odd Girls have used the Perfect Paper Crafting tools, and maybe a little guest project here and there from our partners in this hop!  You have until Sunday at midnight EST to leave your comments, and Some Odd Girl and Perfect Paper Crafting will each draw one winner, to be announced on Monday, November 18th.  Have a Perfectly Odd day, and good luck!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you’re having a wonderful week!

We’re SPEECHLESS about this month’s challenge at SOG!

Hi, everybody! Now that it’s November, there’s a new challenge at Some Odd Girl! Thanks so much to everybody who went OMBRE with us last month…there were so many AH-MAY-ZING creations, that you left us speechless!
So, we’ve decided that the theme for this month’s challenge is SPEECH BUBBLES! And what better way to kick off the challenge than to show you our creations with the new “Speech Bubbles” cut file!
For my card today, I chose “Puppy Gwen“, who is giving some snuggles to her puppy pal:
I also used one of the images in the new “Speech Bubbles” cut file and created a custom cut file for my layer of patterned paper so that my typed sentiment and bubble would be on the same layer. I’m pretty stoked about how it came out! My main image is popped up with foam tape to give it a bit of dimension.
So, get your speech bubbles and a SOG image, whip something up, and join in the fun at the Some Odd Girl blog!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you’re having a SWEET week so far!
Hugs,
