SOG Digi release spotlight: Back to School Cards

Hey, everybody!

We’ve reached the end of the October clear stamp release at Some Odd Girl…don’t you love the new stamps? We’re also celebrating the release of a new digi stamp (“Autumn Mae”) and a new cut file! I made this note card set with the “Back to School Cards” cut file:

Instead of coloring, I chose different fall-themed patterned papers to make the cards and ran each panel through a different embossing folder. I think these would also be great for altered notebooks or notepads or even cut larger for wall art!

The “Go Ombre” challenge is still rockin’! Make sure to link your entry and join us!

Ooh La La! It’s Moulin Mae!

Hi, everybody! So, are you LOVING the new clear stamps at Some Odd Girl yet? I’m back today with the third and final new stamp set just released and available in the SOG Store! Say “bonjour” to “Moulin Mae“!
I colored Mae’s outfit with RV00, RV10, RV11, RV14 and some warm greys. My go-to blonde hair colors are Y21, Y23, Y26 and Y28 for the shadows.
Wait, there’s more! The party doesn’t stop with today’s post! Make sure to check out all the fun going on at Some Odd World, our ning community! And don’t forget to link your entry for our “Go Ombre” challenge!

Gear up for Steampunk Kaylee!

Happy Tuesday! Today, I’m featuring “Steampunk Kaylee,” the second of three new clear stamps just released at Some Odd Girl!
After coloring Kaylee, I customized some designer paper by stamping and heat embossing the gears included in the set. I’ve had the mini and small screw brads in my stash for some time, and there’s not a more perfect time to use them! I also found the gear accent left over from a pack of embellishments I thought I had used up long ago!
Three different sized gears are included in the set, along with two sentiments (I used one on my card) and the fabulous Steampunk Kaylee herself! All of the new clear stamps are on sale NOW in the SOG Store!
To see all of the super fabulous samples made with today’s featured set, stop by the Some Odd Girl blog!
We’ll be featuring the third new clear set tomorrow. Can you guess which one is next? I bet you can-can!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Hugs,

Say Konnichiwa to Geisha Kaylee!

Konnichiwa! I’m so excited to share my card for the newest clear release at Some Odd Girl!
Here’s “Geisha Kaylee“…isn’t she gorgeous?
I think it’s cool to add patterns to clothing. For Kaylee, I added little clusters of three dots to her kimono and little clusters of four dots on her fan to make them look like cherry blossoms.
As you can see, there are TONS of design possibilities with this set! I used all of the stamps in the set (except for the other sentiment) on my card, and it was a blast to color Kaylee, although I’d love to work more on shading the pleats in her kimono.
We’ve got more ODD fabulosity for you this week…did you SEE the new stamps in the SOG store?!?!?
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a FAN-tastic week!
Hugs,

Look who shambled into the SOG Store…it’s Zombie Kody!

It’s kind of a freaky Friday at Some Odd Girl…did you see that we’re celebrating the release of two new zombie digis in the store this week? Zombie Mae and Zombie Kody are shambling in for those of you who like your Halloween cards more creepy than cute…

I chose Zombie Kody for today’s card. I’ve never colored up a zombie image before, but it was fun to experiment with new skin tone combinations…I think the result is zombie-riffic!

I colored the skin with E40, E41, E42 and the shading with BV0000, BV000, BV00 and N1, N2 and N3. When I colored his clothes, I went for more faded colors and added a “dirty” look in some places. The paper colors are so bright, so I chose to color my main image with more faded colors.

Want more Zombie Kody and Zombie Mae inspiration? Then you’ve GOT to check out:

Have you entered our Go Ombre challenge yet?  All you have to do is work the theme into your entry, (and of course, use ANY Some Odd Girl product in your creations), then link up at the SOG blog by Tuesday, October 29th at midnight EST for your chance to win!

Make sure to join us next week…we’ll be previewing the new clear stamp releases at Some Odd Girl. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful and creative weekend!

Hugs,

I’m an Odd Girl!

Hi, everybody! Today’s the day I can finally share some good news with you…I’m an Odd Girl (but you probably knew that already!) Seriously, what it really means is that I’m one of the new members of the Design Team at Some Odd Girl! The announcements are rolling out this morning at the SOG blog, so you can pop over there and see the full list of the new team members!
With today’s announcement comes a new challenge at Some Odd Girl, and this month, we’re going OMBRE’! I chose the Halloween Tia” digi for today’s tag:
My ombre’ technique for the background was created with four different shades of Copic markers. Here are the colors from lightest shade to darkest: V20, V22, V25 and V28. After coloring in overlapping bands with the markers, I sprayed some colorless blender onto the cardstock to fade the lines a little.
I can’t reveal any details yet, but I’ll just say that you are going to LOVE what SOG is releasing over the next six months! No matter if you’re a clear or digi stamp fan, there’s plenty of awesomeness coming your way! And, don’t forget to play along with our challenges at the SOG blog and at the Some Odd World community on ning (you need to create an account there, but it’s quick and easy)!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I can’t wait to share more of my ODD projects with you!
Make sure to stop by the Some Odd Girl blog for all of the details on our ombre’ challenge!
Hugs,
