Lawnscaping Challenge #99: Clean And Simple

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge, and this time, we’re keeping things “clean and simple”! Cards made in the “clean and simple” style keep white space prominent in the design. They are often one layer and have minimal, if any, embellishments.

Keeping that in mind, I chose Lawn Fawn‘s “Good Fortune” stamp set for today’s card, and created a simple scene with the takeout box and fortune cookie stamps. I used a craft knife to cut into the fortune cookie so I could put the fortune inside.
This style is sometimes a challenge for me because I love using patterned papers and layers on my cards. But, I think challenging myself is fun because it breaks me out of my usual crafting routine!

So, whether you’re comfortable with the “clean and simple” style or want to challenge yourself, we want you to play along with us! This week, we’re sponsored by Ellen Hutson! For all the details on this challenge, and to link up your entry, visit the Lawnscaping Challenge blog!

I’ll be back on the Lawnscaping blog next Monday with a new project for my monthly post there, and I hope you’ll come by to say hello!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope your week is off to a great start!

Lawnscaping FIT January Blog Hop!

It’s the last Friday of the month, so that means it’s time for the Lawnscaping Challenge Facebook Inspiration Team’s (FIT) Monthly Blog Hop! You’ve probably arrived from Marina‘s blog, but in case you’re starting here, you’ll find the full hop list at the bottom of my post!

Before I share my card for the hop, I want you to know that we’re welcoming a NEW sponsor to our blog hop: The Ink Road! The Ink Road is an adorable shop run by the fabulous Lara Smith, and it’s filled with all kinds of crafty goodies from stamps (including our beloved Lawn Fawn), to dies, journals and planners! If she doesn’t have it in the store, she can get it! Lara also price matches AND ships internationally.

Be sure to visit The Ink Road and Lara’s blog! We’ll be picking a winner from all of the comments left on our hop to receive a gift certificate to The Ink Road!

This month, the FIT is inspired by light blues, so I made this sweet card featuring stamps from Lawn Fawn’s “Whale You Be Mine” and made some waves with the “Woodgrain Backdrops” set. The papers are from Lawn Fawn‘s “Into the Woods” petite paper pack.

Here’s our full blog hop order:
Suzanne – you’re here!

Before you continue the hop at Yukari‘s blog, be sure to leave a comment for me so you can increase your chance of being the lucky winner of a gift certificate to The Ink Road!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you’re enjoying all of the inspiration in today’s hop and are going to have some time to craft this weekend!

Lawnscaping Challenge #98: Make Your Own Background

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge, and our theme is to create a background with your stamps! I chose Lawn Fawn‘s “Woodgrain Backdrops” to create the background for my card, and paired it with stamps from the “Love You S’more” set:
OK, so that background was pretty easy to make because I used one of Lawn Fawn’s backdrop stamps. You can also use the smaller stamps in a set to create a background pattern. Here’s a card I made for a past Lawnscaping challenge using Lawn Fawn’s “Let’s Roll“clear stamp set. I used the flower stamps in the set with a watercolor technique to make my own background patterned paper.
Whichever method inspires you, we want you to play along in the challenge! This week, we’re sponsored by Lawn Fawn! For all the details on this challenge, and to link up your entry, visit the Lawnscaping Challenge blog!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your week is off to a great start!

Lawnscaping Challenge #97: Winter

Hi, everybody! Since it’s the first Monday of the month, it’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge
One of the many things I love about Lawn Fawn stamps is the ability to mix and match images from different sets, and it’s something that you’ll see me do often when I create with them!
Our challenge for the next two weeks is inspiration-photo based, so it was fun to put a wintery card together with “Critters in the Arctic“, “Into the Woods“, “Love You a Latte“, and “Woodgrain Backdrops“:
I was inspired by the colors in the photos, the logs, the critters and the snow. I stamped the woodgrain pattern on some smooth grey card stock to make a custom background, and picked papers from the “Sweater Weather“, “Peace Joy Love” and the “Into the Woods” petite paper packs.
Here’s the challenge graphic, and you should be able to click on the photo for a closer look at the images:

And, we have a new sponsor for our challenges in 2015: Ellen Hutson

One lucky winner from this challenge will receive a $25 store credit to ellenhutson.com, a one-stop shop with TONS of the latest paper craft supplies!

For more details on this challenge, and to link up your entry, visit the Lawnscaping challenge blog
I’ll be back on the Lawnscaping blog next Monday with a sweet project featuring Lawn Fawn‘s “Bugs and Kisses” stamp set and the Goodie Bag Lawn Cuts metal die!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope your week (and year) is off to a great start! I’m recovering from a particularly nasty cold that I caught over Christmas, and it’s so good to be able to breathe normally again!

Lawnscaping FIT December Blog Hop: Turquoise and Green!

Hi, everybody! It’s my first official monthly blog hop as part of the Lawnscaping Challenge’s Facebook Inspiration Team! This month’s blog hop is sponsored by Spectrum Noir, and they’re giving away a generous prize pack of two sets of alcohol-based markers in TURQUOISE and GREEN!
Make sure you leave comments on all of the blogs in today’s hop, because ONE lucky person will be chosen from ALL of the comments left on the blogs to win the prize! (So, that means the more you comment, the more chances you have to win!)
And, since TURQUOISE and GREEN are inspiring our hop creations, I came up with this card:
I used papers from Lawn Fawn‘s “Let’s Polka” and “Sweater Weather” petite paper packs, the walrus, the ice,  a sentiment and some snowflakes from “Critters in the Arctic“. I also used snowflakes from a few different Lawn Fawn sets: “Winter Penguin“, “Critters in the Arctic“, and “Yeti, Set Go“.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday yesterday and are having lots of holiday fun!

Here’s the full list of blogs in today’s hop:

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don’t forget to leave me a comment before you go for your chance to win the super cool prize from Spectrum Noir!

Lawnscaping Challenge #96: Merry Christmas!

Hi, everybody! I hope you’re ready for a new Lawnscaping challenge, because one starts today!
The theme for this challenge is “Merry Christmas,” so I made a little scene with the yeti from Lawn Fawn‘s “Yeti, Set, Go“, the string of lights from “Cozy Christmas” and the Santa hat from “Hats Off to You“.
With a little creative masking, I made a custom sentiment with words from “Cozy Christmas” and “Yeti, Set, Go.” The papers are from the “Snow Day” petite paper pad.
I made the snow by stamping watermark ink on a strip of white card stock, then heat embossing some clear crystal embossing powder on top. I find that making the snow that way is easier than spreading on glitter glue and waiting for it to dry!
For all the details on this challenge, and to link up your entry, visit the Lawnscaping blog! One lucky entry will win a gift certificate from Lawn Fawn!
Hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop: Holiday Edition!

Hi, everybody! Since I had so much fun participating in the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop in September, I’m joining in the fun again with the holiday edition of the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop that’s kicking off today! So, grab a cup of your favorite holiday beverage, and get ready for some caffeinated inspiration!
My card was inspired by the red holiday cups you’ll find at your favorite coffee shop. I stamped and paper pieced the cups from Lawn Fawn’s “Love You A Latte” set in a tree shape, and masked stamps from Lawn Fawn’s “Winter Fox” and “Winter Owl” sets to create a custom sentiment. (The snowflake on the coffee sleeves is from the “Critters in the Arctic” stamp set.)
Many thanks to Amy Tsuruta of Tsuruta Designs for graciously organizing and hosting the hop and working so hard to get everything ready! You can find all of the details and the full list of blogs in today’s hop at Amy’s blog, including the prize list from all of the generous companies donating prizes for the hop!
The hop starts today and runs until Sunday, December 14th (if you’re participating in the hop, you’ll have until Friday, December 12 at 11:55 Pacific Time to link your blog to the list on Amy’s blog).
Make sure you leave a comment before you hop to the next blog, because Amy will be giving away a prize to FIVE lucky hoppers who leave comments on ALL of the blogs.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Lawnscaping Challenge #95: White on White (Monochromatic)

Hi, everybody! I can’t believe it’s December already. Where did the year go?
One super thing about December is that my term on the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team starts today!
Since it’s also the first Monday of the month, there’s a new challenge for you on the blog! The theme for this challenge is white on white (monochromatic). Instead of making a “polar bear in a blizzard”, I created a wedding-themed card:
To make the dress, I chose the “Sew Lovely” set, which is also one of my first Lawn Fawn stamp sets. The sentiment is from “Sophie’s Sentiments“.
Now it’s your turn! For all of the details on this challenge, and some gorgeous DT inspiration, visit the Lawnscaping blog. And for further motivation, Simon Says Stamp is sponsoring this challenge…one lucky winner will receive:
I’ll be joining the Facebook Inspiration Team today on the Lawnscaping Challenge Facebook page with MORE challenge inspiration, so make sure you “like” the page so you won’t miss a thing!
Hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
