Snow Queen Piper is all NEW in the Some Odd Girl Store!

Snow Queen Piper is the second of two new digis being released this month at Some Odd Girl. Last week’s digi release, Snow Fun Tia, is a great companion image to this one! Here’s my card:

Clean and Simple with Make It Crafty!

Hi, everybody! I’m happy to be back today to share a card that I’m submitting for Make it Crafty’s Clean and Simple Design Team Call

I tend to make cards on the clean and simple side because I like to put the focus on the main image. I love patterned paper and embellishments, but I feel like if I spend time coloring and shading an image, that’s what I want you to notice first! And, if the image is colored well, then it seems that anything else I add other than a sentiment isn’t as important.

So, with that in mind, I chose “Zoe Celebrates,” one of Make It Crafty‘s many adorable digis, for my entry. I colored her with Copic markers to match the paper I selected for the card:
For embellishments, I attached Zoe to the card front with a wobble spring and added a sentiment sticker and punched foil heart to complete the card.
I hope you enjoyed a little peek into my creative process and were inspired by today’s card! You can also find more inspiration with Make It Crafty rubber and digital stamps at the MiC Photo Gallery and the MiC Blog!

Just Hangin Around with Tobie!

Hi, everybody! Today’s new digi at Some Odd Girl Stamps is the last one based on the winning Digi Me contest entries. “Hanging Around Tobie” was an idea submitted by Krystal Edmond. Here’s my take:
This digi was lots of fun to color, and I found that flipping the image while coloring helped to get the shadows in places where they made sense.
You can check out the inspiration behind the digi and find out what our guest Krystal and the rest of the DT made with Hanging Around Tobie at the Some Odd Girl blog!

It’s a Some Odd Girl spa day with Mae!

Hi, everybody! Hope your week is off to a great start! I have one card to share with you today, and it features “Spa Day Mae“, the newest digital stamp in the Some Odd Girl shop!
I chose the designer paper that I used for this card because I loved the colors. After I finished coloring the image to match the paper, I thought the paper looked a bit too “busy” to me, so I muted it with a panel of vellum.
I heat embossed the sentiment (it’s from Some Odd Girl’s “Renew” clear stamp set) on the vellum to keep the number of layers down and to give a little bit of contrast to the soft look of the vellum.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you are able to take some time for yourself and get creative!

It’s New Digi Tuesday at Some Odd Girl!

Hi, everybody! Now that Kristy and the Some Odd Girl staff are back from another successful Winter CHA show, New Digi Tuesday has returned!
I wasn’t able to attend the show this year, and I missed seeing my crafty friends and getting peeks at all of the new craft products! I’m hoping to make it to the 2016 show, though!
What makes this month’s Some Odd Girl digi releases so special is that the winners of the recent “Digi Me” contest get to see their ideas come to life AND they’re guest designing with us!
First up is contest winner Sara Schumann‘s “Fighter Gwen” digi. Here’s my card with Sara’s winning idea:
You can find all of the background on Sara’s inspiration, and the cards she made with this digi, at the Some Odd Girl blog!
Our second new digi being released today isn’t a contest winner, but it certainly fits in with Some Odd Girl Stamps’ quirky style! Let’s give a big “ROAR” to “Tiger Piper“:

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to join us at the Some Odd Girl blog and our Facebook group as we celebrate Some Odd Girl’s 5th birthday this week!
Next week’s digi release will feature the second winner of Some Odd Girl’s Digi Me Contest…you won’t want to miss out on all of the fun and inspiration! See you then!

Two new portrait-style digis debut at Some Odd Girl Stamps!

Hi, everybody! I have two cards to share with you today, and both of the cards feature new Some Odd Girl digital stamps! Both of the new digi stamps are available in the Some Odd Girl Store right now!
I really took my time coloring “Floral Kaylee” so I could practice shadows on her face and on the flowers. I also matched the colors in the image to the Sunshine Sorbet papers I used for the background and the frame. (The strip of polka dot paper is a scrap from my stash.) The sentiment on the card is from the “Geisha Kaylee” clear stamp set.

I decided on a bright color scheme for my second card, which features “Tropical Piper” and a sentiment from the “Garden Gwen” clear stamp set:

I love coloring Piper’s curly hair! (My technique is a simple one: a mixture of squiggles and dots in three or four shades of a similar color.)

Did you notice that I altered a Hexie Dot with a gold glitter gel pen? You can see more ideas and a tutorial on heat embossing Hexie Dots on this tutorial post that I wrote for the Some Odd Girl blog!
