Lawnscaping Challenge #130

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge (#130), and we’re grabbing our glitter, sequins and sparkly things for this one!

On today’s card, I chose critters from Lawn Fawn‘s “Party Animal” and “Holiday Party Animal” sets and die-cut the word “thanks” with the “Scripty Thanks” die  from a sheet of glitter paper. I also die-cut the same word from a sheet of cork to give it a little bit of dimension, and adhered the cork layer to the back of the glittered one.

I positioned the die cut so that it looks like the critters are holding it like a banner. I finished the card front by heat embossing a sentiment from the “Pizza My Heart” stamp set on black cardstock, then cut it into a banner shape.

Lawnscaping Challenge #130 is sponsored by Lawn Fawn! One lucky winner will receive a stamp set of their choice from the Lawn Fawn store!

MiC May CAS Challenge: Summer

Hi, everybody, and happy May! It’s time for a new Clean and Simple challenge at Make It Crafty!

Thanks to everyone who entered the April “Sketch” CAS challenge! Our challenge for this month is SUMMER! While it doesn’t exactly feel like summer in my part of the world (and that’s totally OK), we’re inspired by sunny skies, warm temperatures, and the beach for this challenge!

I chose the “Hula Girl” digi for my card, and made a little wiggle accent to add a little hula dancing to the card:

I tried to capture the wiggle of the grass skirt in this picture:

My accent was made with some floral wire that I curled around a pen. I secured both ends to the card front and the back of the skirt. Normally, I would have used one of the pre-made springs, but the piece that I wanted to add the motion to was much smaller than those, and I didn’t want to have to trim the spring all the way down to fit.

I still have a few things to work through on the process of making my own wiggle spring, and I plan to put together a tutorial so show you how I made it very soon!

I’ll have a new card to share with you on the Make it Crafty inspiration blog on May 9th, and I’d love it if you stopped by to say hello!

For more examples of the challenge theme and the details on this challenge, stop by the Make it Crafty blog and look for the challenge graphic on the right-hand side! Our challenge runs through the month of May, so there’s plenty of time to challenge yourself and play along with us! We can’t wait to see your entries!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your week is off to a great start!

Lawnscaping Challenge #129

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge! I hope you had fun with our last sketch challenge! We had so many amazing entries!

It’s Finals Week for me, and I’m wrapping up the semester with my last test tomorrow. I worked ahead in my other classes, and it made things so much easier!

This week, we’re “Calling All Critters” with our new challenge! I put together a barnyard bash with Lawn Fawn‘s “Critters on the Farm” and used party hats and a sentiment from the “Party Animal” set:

I masked everything except for the party hats, which I fussy cut and layered on top of the critters’ heads. Before I stamped the scene, I laid out the uninked stamps and layered them to figure out which images needed a mask.

To make the red and white patterned paper, I used the “Gingham Backdrops” set. I used regular watermark ink when I stamped the pieces of confetti on plain kraft cardstock because I wanted to add something to the cardstock, but I didn’t want the background to overshadow the main scene.

One lucky person who plays along with us in this challenge will win a $25 gift certificate provided by our sponsor, Ellen Hutson! The deadline for this challenge is Wednesday, May 11, so make sure you link your entry at the Lawnscaping blog!
