Lawnscaping FIT June Blog Hop

It’s time for the Lawnscaping Challenge Facebook Inspiration Team’s (FIT) Monthly Blog Hop! We normally have the FIT hop on the fourth Friday of the month, but there’s a special event happening on the blog next week, so our June hop is a week early!

You’ve probably arrived from Yukari’s blog, but in case you’re starting here, you’ll find the full hop list at the bottom of my post!

This month’s hop is once again being sponsored by The Ink Road! Be sure to visit The Ink Road and Lara’s blog! We’ll pick a winner from all of the comments left on our hop to receive a gift certificate to The Ink Road!

PURPLE is our inspiration color for this month’s hop, and while it’s one of my favorite colors, I sometimes have a hard time creating with it!  I made a card with the walrus in Lawn Fawn’s “Critters in the Arctic” stamp set . The fan is from the “Best Pun Ever” stamp set.

100_5724wm

I stamped another set of fan blades on vellum and punched a hole in the center of the vellum and the center of the white fan blades. Then I attached a brad to the center, but didn’t press it down all the way so the vellum blades can spin.

The “cool” background is made with the same technique (and stencil) that I used on this card.

Here’s a side and close-up look at my card:

Lawnscaping Challenge #108

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge (#108)! Since we celebrated Flag Day yesterday here in the U.S., and the July 4th Independence Day holiday is right around the corner, we’re inspiring you to use stars and/or stripes on your challenge entry!

I made this sweet little love-themed card with some papers from Lawn Fawn’s Beachside petite paper pad and the hedgehogs from the mini “Hedgehugs” clear set. The stars and the sentiment are from the “Lucky Stars” stamp set.

100_5720wm

I made the moon by layering a sheet of vellum that I used to emboss the sentiment over a die cut circle of glittered paper. The marbling that you see is because the adhesive I used didn’t stick so well to the glittered paper. It still makes for an interesting effect, though!

Lawnscaping Challenge #108 is sponsored by Lawn Fawn! One lucky winner will receive a gift certificate to the Lawn Fawn store!

Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Hi, everybody! There’s a new Coffee Lovers Blog Hop kicking off today! So, grab a cup of your favorite coffee, tea, or cocoa, and get ready for some caffeinated inspiration!

I made two cards for today’s hop because I couldn’t decide which one to post:

100_5707wm

My first card features images from Some Odd Girl stamps’ “Breakfast Friends” and  “Sunny Mae” sets. The sentiment on my card is from Taylored Expressions’ “A Hug in a Mug” cling stamp set.

100_5704wm

My second card was inspired by papers from Amy Tangerine’s “Stitched” 6×6 pad.  I matched colors from the paper to the different cups I stamped from Lawn Fawn‘s “Love You A Latte” clear stamp set.

Many thanks to the crew at Coffee Loving Cardmakers for graciously organizing the hop and working so hard to get everything ready! You can find all of the details and the full list of blogs in today’s hop at Coffee Loving Cardmakers, including the prize lists from all of the super sponsors and the flash sponsors, who are donating prizes to give away during and after the hop!

The hop starts today and runs until Friday, June 12th at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Make sure you leave a comment before you hop to the next blog, because there are prizes for a few lucky participants who leave comments on ALL of the blogs! MIC CAS Challenge #2: Masking

Hi, everybody! We’re kicking off a new month and a new Clean and Simple challenge at Make it Crafty’s inspiration blog! We had so many fabulous entries for our Background Technique challenge, and want to thank everybody who joined in the fun!

This month’s challenge is all about masking, and I have a super sweet card to share featuring the brand new Wishful Asha red rubber stamp set! I masked a scene with Asha, the clouds and the dandelions:

100_5699wm

Masking a scene is fun because you can get so much detail on a single layer. A design can be clean and simple, but that doesn’t mean that it’s boring or plain!

I’ll have a new card to share with you and some of my tips and techniques for masking on the Make it Crafty inspiration blog on June 9th, and I’d love it if you stopped by to say hello!

For all of the details on this challenge, stop by the Make it Crafty blog and look for the challenge graphic on the right-hand side of the blog! Our challenge runs through the month of June, so there’s plenty of time to play along with us! We can’t wait to see your entries!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your week is off to a great start!

Lawnscaping Challenge #107

Hi, everybody! It’s time for a new Lawnscaping challenge (#107)! This time, we’re crazy for critters, and we’re inspiring you to use them in your challenge entry!

I LOVE Lawn Fawn‘s many sets of critter stamps, and since I’ve gone back to school after so many years away, I made a few bookmarks to share with you! (And to make studying more fun for me!)

I made two corner bookmarks with papers from Lawn Fawn’s Beachside petite paper pad. You can also make these by cutting a corner off of an envelope, then covering that corner with your paper. I did mine a little differently and folded a square of patterned paper so that it left a longer side with space for me to stamp a sentiment.

100_5690wm

The critters on the corner bookmarks are from Critters at the Dog Park and Critters Ever After. My third bookmark is actually the first one I made. It’s one of those “out there” ideas that stuck in my head until I actually made something with it!

The otter is from Year Five. The book is the same one from the Science of Love set that I used on the frog bookmark above, but I masked the face and bookmark so I could have it pointing the right way. (It’s flipped upside down.) The coffee cup is from Winter Fox, and I used the doughnut/bagel from Love You A Latte to make a pool float for the cup.

Here’s a look at all three bookmarks:
